As I predicted in previous threads, John Bolton is essentially manipulating Donald Trump. This can be clearly seen in current US policy in Venezuela. What has happened is that Bolton's distorted vision has caused him to mislead Trump about the situation in Venezuela. Among other things, what Bolton does not understand about the policy that he has crafted is that because it is very obvious that the US is playing a major role in the effort to drive Maduro from office. Because this is the case, the military in Venezuela would be viewed as a puppet of the US if they would have come out in support of people like Guiado. That is a major flaw with Bolton's policy. He makes this mistake because his vision is distorted by arrogance. As I have said many times in this forum, Trump is merely being manipulated by Bolton. Therefore the US got egg in its face last week.
For reasons that are not entirely clear to me, Guiado felt that he would get backing from the military when he went appeared out in the streets with some military personnel last week. Perhaps Bolton had gotten some assurances from some source in Venezuela that the military was ready to support Guiado. I can't say for sure. At any rate, the military did not come out in support of Guiado, and Bolton and Pompeo got egg in the face.
