No, we're a FREE nation. It's a secular GOVERNMENT. Huge difference. I'm an atheist and I'm not crazy enough to write what you just did.

Seems you have an acceptance problem, so I'll repost a few quotes by some Founding Fathers. There are hundreds more:

    George Washington

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian."

    Thomas Jefferson

"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever; That a revolution of the wheel of fortune, a change of situation, is among possible events; that it may become probable by Supernatural influence! The Almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in that event."

    John Hancock

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us."

"I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ."

    Benjamin Franklin

"Here is my Creed. I believe in one God, the Creator of the Universe. That He governs it by His Providence. That He ought to be worshipped.

    James Madison

"A watchful eye must be kept on ourselves lest while we are building ideal monuments of Renown and Bliss here we neglect to have our names enrolled in the Annals of Heaven."

    James Monroe

"When we view the blessings with which our country has been favored, those which we now enjoy, and the means which we possess of handing them down unimpaired to our latest posterity, our attention is irresistibly drawn to the source from whence they flow. Let us then, unite in offering our most grateful acknowledgments for these blessings to the Divine Author of All Good."

    Alexander Hamilton

"I have carefully examined the evidences of the Christian religion, and if I was sitting as a juror upon its authenticity I would unhesitatingly give my verdict in its favor.

I can prove its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man."

The official motto of the United States is: In God We Trust.

The reason for the separation of Church and State, was so the Federal Government would not establish its own national religion and suppress the others. It was a legitimate fear in that day and age since most people came to the American colonies to escape religious persecution.

This does not mean they were not Christians, since such a thing was unheard of in a day and age when leaders of nations could only rule after being anointed by holy oil. Whatever sect decided not to accept the established Church meant they didn't accept the king and therefore constituted a threat to the state and the established order. This is why these sects were persecuted. To get rid of them and to build up the colonies and its treasury, the British king gave them territory in the Americas.

These people were devout Christians even though their practices and methodologies differed from the traditional Churches. It's their strong Christian faith and beliefs that helped form the laws and institutions of the US. We would not have survived otherwise.

When the Frenchman Toqueville visited the US in the early 1800's he was surprised at how devout the Americans were, and attributed it to their separation of Church and State. Christian services were held at the time in the rotunda of the Capital Building in Washington DC.

    We're not a Christian nation.

You're the one with the acceptance problem. We do not have a state sponsored religion. Sorry. Save the bs for Sunday morning.

yeah, ISIS has that motto too... in fact they believe in the same God as Christians, but so what... we are not a nation of any religion, were a nation of religious freedom

we were fleeing a theocracy, that is why we will never allow a new one to form here

Same place he/she/it was when John the Baptist was beheaded, Jesus was executed and Joan of Arc was burned at the stake..............

On a 4.5 billion year vacation.

Which is what people who holler "but we're a Christian nation" want so bad.

Trusting in God refers to the belief in the "Prime Mover", that goes to the different beliefs of Judaism, Christianity, Islam.

Not according to the Founding Fathers, they did not even endorse a particular Religious belief or Sect, they merely acknowledged being disciples of Jesus Christ which is of Paramount importance !

Most Religions today do NOT follow Jesus teachings, they depart from him by false Doctrines, the so called Religious Right is far departed from Jesus because they preach intolerance hatred & Bigotry.

Jesus never asked anyone to Fight others on his behalf, he said, "My Kingdom is no part of this World" , otherwise they, his disciples, would fight so he would not be delivered up to die, his destiny, a sacrifice to atone for everyone's sins.

You can't preach hate and vitriol and still claim to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.

These people are so ignorant. They might be denying God and Christian values, and yet so much of those values are embedded in them because of the Christian society they were raised in. What they're really doing is denying the culture that formed them so that they are denying themselves and what they are.

It's pure rebellion and that's what Lucifer did. He was God's greatest creation and pure light, but rebelled against God, and out of arrogance and pride saw himself as being equal to God. By doing so he became the antithesis of creation and the father of destruction. It's his arrogance that turned him from light into an imaginable darkness from which all evil derives.

I never heard anyone in the Christian Right preach intolerance hatred and bigotry. I found them more compassionate, charitable and loving than others, so are you sure that those who are saying it are not projecting?

You did nothing to disprove that this is a secular government, and a free nation of religion. You just eluded to personal attacks. Though I think it's cute, it doesn't help your case. But thank you for proving my point.

    Peace out homes.
