That doesn't even make sense as a metaphor. Nobody WANTS to be ill and people don't get sicker and sicker deliberately just to take advantage of free health care. Jeebus, it's one thing to be cynical and quite another to be fracking insane about it Single payer is the world standard, and just about every other nation in the world has it for much LESS than we pay for a markedly inferior system If anyone is pigs around a trough it's the insurance companies
True Trump supporters care only about one thing concerning healthcare. This one thing can come even, at the determent of their own well being. The last thing they want, is to share a hospital or doctor’s office waiting room with a minority.
The entity you're depending upon to pay for all this wonderful healthcare is already $22 trillion in debt. Putting your healthcare in the hands of the federal government is like putting your retirement savings in the hands of Bernie Madoff. It won't end well for you.
Thanks to those who are against UHC. UHC is cheaper per capita then private healthcare by far. Bernie doesn’t seem to be running the healthcare systems of every other democracy which covers everyone for less money. I guess Bernie is just a US conservative boogieman who will automatically runs Medicare for all. Amazing.
Republican Congressmen are actually scrambling to put together their own healthcare plan, but don't seem to be getting very far. They know that Americans generally want some sort of healthcare plan, and Republicans want to put something together on their own terms. No one knows exactly yet what that would look like, or if it's even viable to get approval within the Party. Across the aisle deals of a Republican faction with the Democrats look unlikely at this point. Democrats are unwilling to compromise on anything.
Well.....It’s pretty obvious what works. EVERY other DEMOCRACY in the world has universal coverage for all, better outcomes and for less money. Medicare covers the oldest, sickest and most in need for less overhead then private insurance covers the healthiest segments.. it’s ridiculous to even compare the two.
Could you name a Democracy in the world that is not (1) vast majority White and English-speaking, (2) Western European, or (3) ethnically Northeast Asian; sp. Chinese, Japanese, Korean; which has universal coverage and provides good quality healthcare? That's only actually a very small sliver of the world, isn't it? And yet you say "Every other democracy in the world". So you are basically only talking about one demographic part of the world, and two specific regional ones. There are some Persian Gulf countries that provide free healthcare, but they are not really democracies, have relatively small populations, and are drowning in oil money. Israel might be an interesting exception here, even though many would consider the Jews that live there European (about an equal mix between East and West) and English is widely spoken there (84.9%). And about 38% of the population still choose to have a private insurance plan rather than the public one, which is mandatory.
Oh. Your argument is, that universal healthcare will not work for white, English speaking citizens because why ? They’re body chemistry is too weak ?
We already have by far the most expensive health care of any developed nation! https://www.visualcapitalist.com/how-much-do-oecd-countries-spend-on-healthcare/
Eliminating the ACA will not magically return us to 2009. In fact healthcare spending as percent of GDP would indicate you want to go back much farther than 2009. Actual facts are a bitch. https://www.statista.com/statistics/184968/us-health-expenditure-as-percent-of-gdp-since-1960/
So all that horse plucky that Conservatives used to complain about judicial activism is nonsense. Or is judicial activism just applicable for Democratic administrations?
Bet you can’t actually post any historical data to support your nonsense! https://www.statista.com/statistics/184968/us-health-expenditure-as-percent-of-gdp-since-1960/ Or you might like this chart better https://www.thebalance.com/causes-of-rising-healthcare-costs-4064878
So why would you post charts that show the ACA has done nothing to change the rate of healthcare cost increase?
Especially a bitch when your own link shows that we did spend less on healthcare in 2009, and that healthcare expenditures didn't start ballooning higher until government put its dirty hands into the mix back in the 1960s.
Nice try. Your claim was costs ballooned since the ACA was enacted. Chart shows clearly that is not the case. Or do you not know how to read a chart? 17.3% in 2009 versus 17.7 percent currently is minuscule compared to the increases prior to the ACA.
Here is the statement you made and are unable to prove. In fact by the chart the. ACA has curbed the rampant cost increases that occurred prior to the ACA. “Perhaps the words "more affordable" eluded you. The ACA increased costs well beyond the normal rate of inflation.” Keep trying to run away from your falsehood. Fun to watch and good for a laugh
I have no idea what you are talking about, it's all disjointed and out-of-context. You post lots of spew but nothing to back it up. Are you still denying that the ACA has increased healthcare expenditures as a percent of GDP?
Wow deep thinking in progress. Of course judicial applies to the courts. The question was is it only judicial activism when it works for the Democratic objectives.
guess you didn’t bother to look at the data. Went from 17.3% to 17.8 percent in five years. A much slower increase then prior to the ACA. And since I have now provided you with two sets of data to make my case suggest it might be time for you to post any actual evidence you have to support the claim you made which is the following “The ACA increased costs well beyond the normal rate of inflation.”
In reality the ACA helped a tiny, tiny percentage of the population about .028% while doubling or tripling the premiums and doubling or quadrupling the out of pocket for 98%. Thank you democrats. For nearly 100% of the people that have to buy their own insurance, the out of pockets and premium increases make it almost as if you have no insurance. To use hysteria like democrats like to do, how many people die because their deductible went from $500 to $6000 so they don't go see a doctor anymore? In 2020 the typical Silver plan (as required by Obama) is going to now have a $8000 out of pocket expense. Thank you democrats. Please please please don't try to fix anything else. As Pol Meister said, 2009 was not so bad. Rates were 3x lower than now, coverage was just fine, there were NO holes, that crying about coverage was a smokescreen, 100% of every client I have would rather have the plan in place now that they had in 2009, 100% of them. Democrats are like lemmings, I have clients on the hard left that were completely screwed by Obamacare, watching their rates go up 35% for 3 years in a row, watching their deductibles go from $1000 to $5000, and yet somehow they blame Republicans for Obamacare's short fallings, as if Republicans had anything to do with that lousy law. The single worst injustice ever placed in my lifetime on citizens was Obamacare. I have spoken.
