What would happen if China called in the debt?

So your response to the fact that China has a bigger army and their soldiers are very well trained is. ¨We are Americans so our army automatically wins¨?

 

When your economy is export-driven you don't honk off your markets.

That's why Germany is dithering over the euro. If the euro collapses, German marks will be so strong against drachmas, lira, pesos, francs, and pounds that the German stuff regardless of quality will simply be priced out of the market.

Maybe its cheaper for them to carry the Greeks, Spanish, Italians, et al than it is to not be able to sell your stuff.

 

As I said.....it would improve American education systems ... obvious proof is in the post!

We wouldn't be foolish enough to attack China. They can't get that army here to fight us. We can't fight them in China. China isn't going to ask for it's money back. It's in bonds, which are long term.

 

since their economy is faultering too, they could use the money....but that's not the way bonds work! all they can do is sell them to some other sucker or wait. Obama could humor them and print the money to pay them, but that would just end up pissing them off.

 

Do you know how the Chinese treat their prisoners? Gitmo would be like a summer camp, not a prison to them. My point wasn't about how we should treat people in Gitmo, but how the Chinese would if they took it over if the inane OP came through.

We have three Uigyars (Chinese Muslims from Western China, close to the 'stans) in Gitmo. They are primarily still there because if they were repatriated to China, the Chinese would execute them immediately. I can't see why they wouldn't do the same with the rest of the prisoners in Gitmo. They clearly have no love for Muslims. Personally, I think the prisoners in Gitmo need to be tried in military tribunals. If no conviction can be made, we need to repatriate them to the sovereign country where they were captured, and let the authorities there deal with them. If convicted, they face the punishment.

Their economy is faltering because they are basing in on the US dollar, and US companies. Their people do not make enough from making cheap goods for lazy American bums that they can't [put any money into their own economy. If the people have no spending power, the economy suffers.

They depend on our consumption just as much as we depend on their production. Granted, we're becoming less dependent on them since other poorer nations are filling in much of their role.

The feds pay property taxes? That's a new one to me.

 

they give states "aid" to make up for lost taxes and pay for the land they occupy. if they sell it to a private party, the private party then has to pay property taxes.

 

They don't have to give that aid. That's a choice.

 

states don't have to pay income taxes on the taxes they collect either.

China can not "call in the debt". Things don't work that way.

 

What would happen? Nothing, because the terms of buying our debt isn't "well, you make us a loan and whenever you want the $ back, we'll pay you on the spot."

They're entitled to the interest on the debt, and the principle of the debt at the end of the term of the debt. Not whenever the f*** they want it.

Really, do people think that debt owners can just say, "hey, we want the principle owed like now?" How'd that work for your mortgage.

 

That is not how debt works. But if it was, we would just repay it all. In one day. It is called repudiation, and it involves printing money, but today they just type in some zeros in a computer. China, being as dumb as they are, will counteract by doing the same so they can continue pegging their currency to the dollar. Cost of oil will shoot up.

 

What would ahppen if China called in the Debt? We'd default and we and China would go bankrupt.

 

There are a lot of things, some of them very nasty things, that I would call China. "Dumb" is not one of them.

 

Have you seem how they squander their growth on ghost cities because they don't trust people to make diverse investments? Do you see how they peg the dollar letting us borrow money at below interest while we repay them with printed money and repudiate the debt they buy? If you think they are brilliant you sink your savings into us bonds. They are getting smarter but are still dumb. When they wake up one day and set their people loose they will eclipse the western world quickly. Europe and America.

 

Speak about being blind, America being bankrupt tried to default on repayments to China, China flew bankers and financial advisers to America to collect!

America paid up!
