The Republican Party has lost its mind and this is just another symptom.

There's momentum behind the recall vote, but I think California is currently in the 'lean/likely' remain column given that it's a deep blue state with an extremely well-organized Democrat machine. It's interesting to see polls with 20-25% of Democrats supporting Recall, and recall clearly has the more enthusiastic crowd. If we see polls where 53-55% of people are demanding recall, then I'd say it's a toss-up. I think the effort to recall needs to be led by a strong Democrat candidate, and I think we're seeing Kevin Paffrath peeling off some Democrats from the 'Remain' column. If more Democrats and Independents see him as a legitimate candidate, then Newsom is going to feel the heat.

Watching that circus unfold makes me wish we had the ability to recall my state's governor, MorRon DeathSantis.

Ain't enough Republicans in California to have a bingo game, this is a Democratic hoedown from top to bottom.

Don't forget Larry Elder is running for the Republican party. Democrats don't like it when a black man has left the plantation.

From the other side of the country, it seems anybody would be better than Newsome.

Nope. As with Pres Trump, I voted for DeathSantis the first time around. And, as with Pres Trump, he did an amazing job in nearly every other pursuit. But, as with Pres Trump, when it came to COVID he failed miserably. So, as with Pres Trump, he will not get my vote the second time around.

I'm really not the person to sell a 'but the Democrats did this...' angle to. I know fully well of their many failures. I know that at this point Pres Biden has done as much to contribute to this second outbreak as Pres Trump did the first.

Thanks for your honesty. But I don’t think the president has the power to do much when it comes down to it without going FULL fascist /dictator /isolationist. NZ has been able to contain things well because they’re a blip of a country with few ways in or out. Connected continents with massive travel needs just can’t control a virus like this. It just has to burn through the population and people will die. No politicians have the guts to admit it.

You seem unaware of California politics south of Los Angeles. Orange county and the San Diego area are quite red. Also, the central valley and it's millionaire industrial farmers are not, and have never been, Democrats.

You are aware that California has elected several notable conservative governors, right? Ronald Reagan, for instance, and two-termer Pete Wilson more recently. (I don't count The Governator ... he was a temporary aberration.)

If I lived there, I'd vote for a junky over DeSantis in a heartbeat.

Don't know Paffrath, but I don't get the impression they are too fond of Jenner.

Lindell? He's clearly back on the pipe. I feel bad for the people that believe him that Trump will be reinstated next week.

Please elaborate. What has Biden done that has resulted in the rapid outbreaks of the delta variant? According to what I've read and seen, it's spreading mostly among the unvaccinated.

So what even if Newsom gets recalled?

He will just run for another term next year.
And, even if he doesn't, after 2022 CA will, once again, have a Dem. Governor.

If (repeat IF) a Republican (like Larry Elder) got in, Big Deal.

With Dems controlling 75% of both Houses of the State Legislature, what is anybody expecting him to do?

You. You said you'd vote for a junkie before DeSantis. I was just throwing his name in the hat. ;-)

Is that next week? What are they saying is going to happen?

I think it will be some sort of "secret" thing where Trump is the hidden President, the power behind the throne as it were.

That might be a good thing if Trump himself can be made to believe it (and that shouldn't be hard, he seems as gullible as his followers) Why should he run again if the office is just a sham and he's already got the REAL power?

They could build him an oval shaped office with some antique Empire sofas and a big desk. He'd be happy as a clam.

(I've heard of more than one rich crazy sort who actually DID that. There was this one guy who built an actual duplicate of the whole fracking White House. I also saw a dupe of the President's Desk in a discount furniture outlet one time, and learned that it's really a sort of standard item.) (rich people be nerts)

Inviting hundreds of thousands sick and/or untested and unvaccinated illegals to come here and then shipping them all around the country.
