What you don't realize, or admit, is that whomever either party puts as a candidate the other party will go to extreme lengths to make them look like the worst human being on earth.

Most politicians are bought by it and propagate it, keeping it intact intentionally, to benefit both themselves and their fellows, some thinking it is needed to keep America strong.
Trump appears to only go along with it when it feeds his ego. That creates an opening for potentially going against it (if that feeds his ego more), which the likes of Biden or Clinton or Haley or DeSantis never would.

To really shake up the elections, we need to stop electing 1%-ers. Not just to the White House, but congress as well.

The rich have no real understanding of who we are. I want leaders who know what it's like to sweat the rent, or how it feels to tell your kid(s) no, they cannot have new clothes, only what you can find in thrift stores. And sorry, kids, no money for meat this week ... make do with rice and cheese with some vegetables and beans.

If they've never been down here in the trenches, they aren't worthy to be our leaders, imo.

Since 1956 when Gallup started keeping track of the favorable/unfavorable of major party presidential candidates we had one election when both major party candidates were seen by less than 50% favorable and more than 50% unfavorable. 2016 when Clinton was viewed 38% favorable/56% unfavorable along with Trump at 36% favorable/60% unfavorable. 2024 it looks like will join 2016 as an election where both major party candidates are seen by less than 50% favorable, more than 50% unfavorable. In fact we’ve had but three elections where one major party candidate was viewed by all Americans less than 50%. Goldwater in 1964 at 43% favorable, Clinton in 2016 at 38% and Trump in both 2016, 36% favorable and 2020 at 43% favorable. Only two election were major party candidates viewed over 50% unfavorable, 2016 Clinton at 56%, Trump at 60% and 2020 Trump at 56% unfavorable. Even Goldwater back in 1964 wasn’t viewed unfavorable by over 50% of all Americans, he came in at 47% unfavorable. It’s looks certain that in 2024 we’ll have to add both Biden and Trump once again to that list. Biden is currently at 39.6% favorable 55.1% unfavorable, Trump at 41.7% favorable, 53.8% unfavorable.
