    And turning themselves in and applying for asylum can give them a legal standing. That's what a court date is about.

    Millions. We could make an educated guess by looking at statistics like the 6-11% of asylum seekers each year that ghost processing. I don’t care enough to do the math. I doubt it’s dropping with millions added each year.

    Reagan just gave potential migrants hope of future amnesty. Unless I missed something. I was just a kid then.

    Walls/physical barriers are just imperfect tools like all others. Useful but not a cure all. If they were ineffective the Biden administration wouldn’t care how many Texas erected. :)

    I agree neither party dares to address immigration. The folks who pay to get them elected profit from the process. And the issue fuels fundraising and voting and most of all the all important duopoly. Fixing the problems and making a good legal system kills too many geese that lay golden eggs. But I’ll reiterate. It’s a dangerous game when we have no idea how many of our mortal enemies are coming to live amongst us….

    If I go to the drugstore and make a legal purchase during business hours the day after I break and enter, it doesn’t negate my illegal actions the night before. That’s not how laws work.

    And they still aren’t vetted and can still ghost the legal process at a ten percent rate.

    A good test is the ability to earn an income. Sterilization should be a condition for receiving welfare payments. This would not be compulsory sterilization, because those deciding not to be sterilized would be denied what they had done nothing to earn, or they could take a low wage job illegal immigrants risk their lives for.

    Actually, I do not blame skin color but soft on crime leftist policies, which I think is actually attacking black people for reasons. They act sympathetic but in reality, I think they are using black people and destroying their societies, family, education and more. Doing this, for example, keeps peoples divided and not focused on the lack of improvement in people's lives while per capita productivity rises.     Those are issues congress has to address.
    They won't or don't.
    R's in the house, along with trump, killed a bipartisan Senate bill that Biden supported.

    More agents on the border. More judges and courts to handle the case load.

    You never addressed what portion of welfare recipients are 100% reliant on welfare. Or even what that welfare would be.
    Most receiving some sort of welfare assistance are working.

    When crime across the world went up during the pandemic.

    Facts show, crime has been going down for decades. Until the pandemic wave.

    In my lifetime America has always been great. Has it always been perfect? Nope...and it never will. There always has and always will be things that aren't great. But overall it is great...at least in my opinion.

    How will more agents on the border help? Are they going to prevent entry into the US? If not that doesn’t help. How will more judges help? Won’t that just get more immigrants into the US faster? I guess you might get some eligible to work faster.

    I think we should enforce current law before we start spending more on things that don’t have a clearly defined pathway to success.

    I agree but there are times in the past when we were better. We have descended pretty steadily since the 1960's.

    Simple. The de-centralization of government. Returning to the foundational values that made this country great. The idea of individual liberty over collectivity. The concept that each individual is the sole driving contributor to the success of the group. Eliminating all of the social justice non-sense and attempts to implement social policy to protect emotions, feelings, and agendas at implementing government as a means of driving social change. We need to stop caring what the world thinks about us and our interests. We are not the world police, and it isn't our responsibility to subsidize the defense of our self serving allies. We need to secure our borders, and THEN modify our immigration policies to bring in people that share our ideals and desire to grow themselves and our country simultaneously. And most importantly, we need to put an end to the agenda that is the destruction of the family unit, hold people accountable, and promote social concepts that provide contribution by everybody.

    That's a good start.

    While still allowing in extraordinary numbers of illegals not fixing anything. And attaching a bunch of foreign aid too. Not a single policy attached that will reduce the flow.

    That’s why it was rejected and you know it. PORK!!

    How authoritative of you. I don't like the welfare abusers at all but I do understand there are people who need some help on their way to becoming independent of welfare. So those who need short term help should be sterilized? Sorry but that's some twisted thinking.

    WE the people, in order to form a more perfect UNION, establish Justice and insure domestic tranquility, provide for the COMMON defense, promote the GENERAL WELFARE and secure the blessings of liberty to OURSELVES and OUR POSTERITY...

    Trying to see where it says anything about "individual liberty" in there.

    Yes, we do a lot to protect individual liberty in the Constitution but that isn't the end all be all goal. It's the means by which we provide for the GENERAL WELFARE and to secure the blessings of liberty to OURSELVES (as a group) and OUR POSTERITY (all those that will follow us)

    Meanwhile you very post runs counter to your claims to care about individual liberty over collectivity. Do you even listen to yourself?

    Our whole system of government is geared towards "implementing government as a means of social change". If you think government has no place in "social change" then that means you were against government getting rid of slavery, government forcing the elimination of racist Jim Crow laws, against government insuring the equal treatment of women and LGBTQ and other socially marginalized groups.

    Our government is DESIGNED to prevent the tyranny of the majority from trampling on the rights of the minority. That is the very ESSENCE of using government to implement social change.

    Your whole post just shows why the MAGA crowd doesn't understand what America is or what it stands for.

    You cling to the American flag while you walk all over the US Constitution. You promote the imagery of the country while ignoring it's soul.

    The preamble was written from the perspective if the collective. That doesn't mean the country was founded on the principals of collectivism.

    The Constitution also says thus about the limitation of government power against citizens:

    No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

    We absolutley have a government that is not following the equal protections clause. But the collectivists have rationalized that because this unequal protection is supposedly better for the collective, that it is OK.

    Individualism is the animating moral principle of our Constitution. It is the idea that each person is an end in himself, endowed by nature with rights to think and act according to his own conscience and interests. Government is a servant, on this view, and it is good to the extent that it protects individuals’ rights to life, liberty, and property.

    Nothing in our declaration of independence, the Federalist Papers, or our Constitution remotely says anything about the responsibility of one person over another.

    Because plural words were used, you think that equates to collectivist ideologies?

    Don't spend more money on the issue. And we haven't.

    What laws are not being enforced?
    I don't see how more will get in faster. Unless there's a lot of them being turned back.

    More agents, according to the RW side of things, says they can cover the unwalled/fenced portion of the border.

    But the big back log is in the processing of migrants.

    The foreign aid part was approved separately.

    So, the border bill still stands, now on it's own. R's in the house and the 2x impeached don't want the dems to address border issues. It's the only base plan they have going for them.

    There's no way to stop the flow. People migrate on their own.
    Well, the way to address migrant flow is to make the reasons they leave their country go away. Or stop the employers in the country from hiring them.
    Which they won't. Not even some of trump businesses.

    The way to deal with that problem is to stop processing the migrants, and to keep them out.
