http://www.recoilweb.com/franklin-armorys-reformation-revealed-133042.html Please read the above link. After, answer the question. Where are your magic laws now? But seriously: This is why gun control like the NFA is ultimately a fool's errand. You cannot craft a law that can pass scrutiny that can effectively ban every method of accomplishing a high rate of fire from a compact platform that remains accurate. You can't stop the signal Anti's! Let it gooooooooooooooo! This weapon is available with a binary trigger (one shot when pulled back another when released.) and is going to be available in .300 blk which is made to be suppressed. Everyone can now have an SBR without a stupid bullshit death by bureaucracy experience. Leave comments on why you agree or disagree with the premise in the OP.
I am still waiting a letter that bans my finger since I can bump fire most of my semi autos on command.
Every time the anti-gun left passes some insane law, an engineer smiles and says "challenge accepted".
I think that even if the design does not work exceptionally well, it establishes an important precedent, it may just be possible to overturn the barrel length regulations for all firearms. The Binary trigger interests me..
I don't think I'll ever need to fire faster than I can with a competition trigger with a short reset.
There are considerations worth evaluating apart from the high cost of some like the Franklin, some cannot be selected, they are in binary or safe...not necessarily good for long range shooting, some are difficult to cancel the secondary shot without keeping the trigger back, removing the mag and manually ejecting the 1st spent round. I have also seen a couple not reset. There are some pretty good comp triggers out there with low pound and/or adjustable triggers like the Timney or Giessele 3gun (on my AR lower) that are so fast in use and lower cost that they might be better options for some. Mine works flawlessly, has an excellent pull, predictable glass clean break and resets very quickley, audibly. The short reset makes it extremely easy to bumpfire, mimicking burst mode as well. I have had both the Timney and the Giesssele, prefer that latter. Both companies also make excellent adjustable 2 stage triggers as well. Both are easy to install. However, be careful if acquiring a Timney at a gun show; I have seen cheap quality Chinese knock offs I wouldn’t trust and outright fakes with Timney packaging... read labels very carefully for any printing errors and get seller’s info. I suspect a few of the 3 gunners here might have other thoughts and options... always like to hear from those with their own experiences. Dems have been seeking to make anything that improves or replaces factory Mil Spec triggers illegal... (great for competitors, eh) mostly supported by those with no knowledge of fire arms and that would’t know one trigger from another (NY trigger requirements in some locals). There have been attempt to make it daunting for smithwork (excessive fees), but they have been also looking to make any trigger work (polishin Jobs, etc) illegal as well, a case of ignorance creating potential for unintended consequences. On some platforms, trigger wear and polish some with use (my Kahr, being one) ...makes me wonder how they would know wear from polishing?
Yep. The lightning link to convert an AR to full auto was a brilliant piece of engineering and deceptively simple. http://thehomegunsmith.com/pdf/fast_bunny.pdf Or, to get around CA mag limits and the non detachable mag requirements the Mean Arms stripper clips http://www.guns.com/2017/03/02/the-side-loading-ar-15-stripper-clip-because-california-video/ Or a bump stock... made things easy, but how do you regulate people that can bumpfire without any device?
At one point I had a very fast draw, not anymore, my front door blew open once, and I drew from a retention snap holster so fast I do not even remember drawing, my gun was out and covering the door in a fraction of a second. I used to have a pretty fast rate of fire with revolvers and carbines.
that is like saying criminals still get guns so why make it illegal for them to own guns yes, mass shooters may come up with creative ways to still kill, even using rented trucks, but I do not want them to have easy access to some guns like machine guns for instance but I do think every free American should have the right to own a gun, even criminals after they have paid back society for their crimes, as in done all their time
LOL! I only laugh because I've been there. I still train religiously and would say that at this point in my life I'm about as fast and accurate as I've ever been... and there was an incident about twenty years ago where I walked into my house to find the power out due to a thunderstorm that was lashing the area at the time. As I walked into the kitchen there was a flash of lightning and I perceived a hulking form squatting down as if trying to conceal its presence in front of me... and the lights came on. Turns out it was the kitchen stool I had thrown a shirt over while rushing to get out of the house... and I was genuinely surprised to look down and see my pistol in my hand.
Don’t tell an anti that story, you did wrong...you were supposed to go on defense by relieving yourself of all waste to disgust a potential attacker... gun banner’s handbook, probably page 2.
I A follow up, for the show over the weekend, I worked on several guns for customers, including a MkI Webley and a 1911 with full provenance issued to a fellow that followed the Pancho Villa Punative Expedition (very cool and worked flawless after a full breakdown cleaning). The shop I worked for got in a couple new per-market drop in trigger group from Hiperfire called the Eclipse that I did installs for a couple of their special customers, but other than dry fire, I hadn’t really evauled on the range. Yesterday, one who didn’t pick his up at the show did so yesterday and we ran it together yesterday. Very nice. Very close, if not edging my, Gisselle 3gun, at 1/2 the price...so I am told. Virtually no creep with 3.2lb measured pull (adjustable), clean break, audible/tactile awesome reset. Was on the indoor, so didn’t try bumpfire. It’s supposed to be on shelves this month. Went to their site....https://www.hiperfire.com/product/hipertouchecl/ Was as advertised...with my short experience ... 60 rds, Anderson Platform.
The Hiperfire seems to be about the same price as the Giselles at Primary Arms. I'm happy with the Velocity trigger on my 3 Gun rifle, and it is much cheaper than the Giselles or Timneys.
HM defense is a recent entry to AR 15s and are made about 45 minutes from my house. One of my favorite local dealers carries them and I bought one and put a CMC trigger in it. I then had them build me one with the velocity trigger. I have Gieselle triggers in a couple stag 3G rifles, Timneys in two rifles I installed, JPs in a couple JP 3G rifles, CMCs in a couple including an Armalite 3G I bought my son and the Velocity. all work really well
