Spiritgide, inspired me to make this thread with his very relevant OP on Unfunded Debt in America and the serious problem it presents going forward. I think this is great compendium thread to that OP, as my reply to that thread explains why.

Basically, if all the Unfunded Debt explodes in the US, it would be like wiping the United States off the face of the earth economically speaking. It would be the collapse heard around the world and throughout out the galaxy. It would be the trigger that reversed the Migrant Flow in this country on a permanent basis.

Imagine, the vast majority of US Citizens becoming Immigrants to other countries. Right now, everybody wants to come here, but that would change dramatically if the unfunded liability debt bomb explodes in the United States, either because the US became too weak and runaway inflation became the norm, or because the world decided to shift out of the USD as the Petrodollar or both at the same time.

Where would you go? What would be your Top Three Countries to Migrate to and why?

For me, the path of least resistance would be Canada. Second, would be Singapore. Third, would be a very specific place in South Africa that I will keep a secret.

The OUTFLOW of Americans relinquishing their U.S.citizenship, despite the tax penalty they suffer, has been growing larger every year recently.

New Zealand, because they have strict immigration laws, i.e. not open borders like us, and it's hard as hell to get residency.

Switzerland...they won't go broke and has nice scenery.

Eastern Europe. They haven't been infected with too many feminazis and liberals.

I wouldn't go anywhere! I live in a unique area of the U.S that was built for the survivalist.. No one in their right mind would come here in a collapse but it's the best source of materials and wildlife to live comfortably for two lifetimes..

    Coal
    NG
    Forest
    free range cattle
every type of N. American game including Buffalo
    wild Horses

Hairy women for those sub zero nights! What more could one want in a collapse :)

Japan where they have lots of empty homes available at very low prices and respect their senior citizens.

If the US blows up in such a spectacular fashion, I doubt any of those bolthole countries will be as safe and secure as they were in a world in which the two big powers are China, and Russia.

It sure has and you nailed it - some are being forced to remain precisely because of the penalty. When I tell people that we live under a system of Economic Slavery, they don't believe it. Yet, they work through April, not for themselves, but specifically to pay an entity that is not a part of the real Federal Government. The IRS is a foreign corporation with foreign corporate registry on foreign soil. Yet, nobody seems to care and they all get up every morning between 0430 and 0700 headed to a job where they are not in control of a large portion of their own income. Meanwhile, the national debt keeps rising and their portion of that debt rises along with it.

Becoming an ExPat has a cost associated.

Yeah, but would you be able to get into China or Russia, is the question.

Isn't that already a "Country" unto itself now? I missed the memo on when it reverted back to one of the 50. ;)

Wouldn't China, after seeing the US preoccupied with survival rather than superpowerdom, finally make its move on Japan, by invading it? I would think that to be a no-brainer. I picked Singapore, as my second choice because it is more tucked away to the deep southwest of the South China Sea, where the Chinese government is now "installing" its man-made military islands while referring to them as something else in public.

Except Japan isn't the kind of place that just lets foreigners obtain residency visas very easily. Then there's the very formidable language problem to deal with.

Personally, I'd move to the Philippines. Not much of a linguistic barrier, easy to obtain resident visa, and they've already adjusted to having a crippled economy.

Why would China do that? Japan has no resources other than manpower to rely on, and the Chinese have more than enough of that. They could take some outlying islands without much of a fuss, but there's nothing to really take if they did annex Japan.

Sorry, but he is wrong but his choice on Japan is spot on, especially if you still want to work. Japan is very lenient when it comes to tourism.... You can stay almost 6 months before you run into issues, then make a quick border run to another country and return in a few days and you are fine for 6 months... then start looking for a job. They love English language teachers and skilled professions. However, Japan is expensive so don't expect a huge quality of life upgrade. But Japan is one of my favorite places in the world.

Becoming an expat usually means a very affordable change in lifestyle that means you are pretty set for life. Like moving from the US to SE Asia, Chaing Mai. Your money goes much further. Especially if you get retirement pay. I still have friends that served 20 years in the military and stayed in the country they loved the most and became expats. They live far better than they could in the US. A goof friend of mine left the US for Australia, was there 30 years and just left for Thailand where he will live out his remaining years. He loves it and lives like a king off of meager disability pay.

Becoming an Expat usually has a cost benefit associated to it. It's why Expats become expats. :)

On topic: I would choose Switzerland. Gorgeous, great food and coffee, close to Italy and I quick hop to some spectacular beaches. :)

No need for me to go anywhere because the US isn’t going to collapse. We’re going to be just fine.
