I am Chinese and I feel more and more uncomfortable of the corruption, monopoly, over-fed government and gap between the rich and the poor. I was not that unhappy when I was young -- I was lied that we were the happiest ppl in the world and we are heading the right way -- I am confident of what Chinese can achieve, we are smart and hard-working, but I doubt the government is heading to the right direction, and we have to count on Jin-Ping Xi to save our ass. I just can't trust another chairman anymore.

How is China doing, in your eyes? Are we heading to hell, slowly?

Currently the way I see it at best China will end up with a corrupt democracy in 20 years like Russia. Like you said the Chinese are very capable but large companies and the government seek to constantly defraud their workers and deprive them of organization. The Chinese Labor force does not lack dedication of study or work what it lacks first and foremost is independent organization skills. The government has shown that it isn't interested in the plight of the workers it even goes so far as to aid companies cheat and oppress their workers.

However if such a movement were to take place for workers rights the country would lose the massive market of cheap goods as companies which import the goods would demand products so cheap that fair competitors would be underbid by companies that commit fraud. This system of under bidding is what China's current economy is based on. Companies get these low contracts because they screw over their workers and safety of the environment.

That is the biggest problem with obtaining better working conditions in China its biggest advantage over other countries is it's poor working conditions and the overwhelming amount of poor working conditions. If better working conditions came into practice china would need an economy that is more dedicated to making a much higher quality of products. So there are three paths to improvement for China a global anti fraud movement(that will never happen since the global economy is so dependent on it), a workers revolution(unlikely with poor organization and government monopoly of force), and a slow climb to mediocrity like Russia(most likely). At least that is how I see it.

Maybe China will become a democracy in the distant future. They have already moved from a system where leaders rule for life to one like the PRI era in Mexico.

The leader has very strong powers and elections are not democratic but the leader serves a limited term (maximum 10 years). This is a substantial improvement. China is a pretty closely controlled oligarchy as of now but might evolve to a more open system. This is likely to take a long time.

You better watch what you say, the freedom-loving Chinese government might make you disappear.

But seriously, China is in the same situation that the first world is in. All first world countries are hopelessly in debt. China is basically owned by the IMF/World Bank, as practically all of the third world in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. No country in the world is heading the right way, and their all on par to being bought out by the IMF/World Bank. Greece has been bought, and I suspect that Spain, Portugal and Ireland are next on the list. The only way the world economy is going to permanently advance is if the world embraces the free market. The United States is on a fast track downhill...our dollar very well may hyperinflate in the coming years. And if the US goes down, China goes with it. Our two economies are entirely too dependent on each other. The dollar will be replaced as the world reserve currency with IMF SDRs, which the world will accept as legal tender. The IMF/World Bank will effectively be the central bank of the world.

I do not believe that China will acheive democracy. I think that China, along with the rest of the world, is going to come under the rule of a one world government comprised of the IMF/World Bank and the United Nations. (A world central bank is effectively a world government. The power over the world's money will only allow such a beauracracy to continuously expand forever).

China can achieve whatever it wants to achieve. The question should be are you willing to accept democracy.
