    I am technically Messianic Gentile.....
but I did research Roman CAtholicism extensively over ten years ago and I am considering beginning to research some branches of Catholicism again in the near future.... (probably when we move to near Toronto and there may well be a Catholic church within walking distance)????

The near death experience of Dr. Gloria Polo has me considering Catholicism again

Ah, well that makes sense for sure. Yep in my church youd be encircled by well meaning yet somewhat intrusive people. I'm an introvert and being bombarded can be unpleasent.

That's been my experience of protestantism. Always seem a LITTLE too eager to be 'friends'. I'm in no way an introvert (just ask my kids), but I'm also not going to church services to find friends. I'm going purely for the transcendent moments that the combination of building/ritual/sights/sounds/smells etc produce. It's an entirely private thing, and not something I want to discuss with a bunch of people I've just met

I can see your point but you'd be surprised at the number of people that leave a Church and say "no one recognized me" or "no one acknowledged my existence. We always make it a point to welcome a strange face.

I don't know much about Germany, but I assumed Bavaria was Catholic. Wasn't Pope Benedict XVI from Regensburg - or did he teach in Regensburg? It somehow sounds familiar. I was very fond of him.

The older group would be the ones in the compounds forcing polygyny on woman and making them chattel

Lindis, you have no idea of the hatred and attacks towards Christians when I first came on to the forum. I think their hatred towards Christians was the only reason they were on the forum - so I kept away. Some of those posters are still here and they still insult and they still attack.

The attacks is probably the reason there aren't any Catholics on the forum.

When you have a standardize ritual, those things are built in, so to speak. In DeMolay, while we have gavel raps to indicate standing or sitting, there are also set points in the ritual where one stands or sits without a gavel rap. You learn that from the doing. Some services are like that, where you learn through repeated doing, while others are as you are used to with prompting.

It might be the woman's choice, although in Christianity it is sinful.

Not usually in the fundamentalist Mormon groups. Out in the greater poly community, yes it is fully as much the woman's choice to participate in any form of polyamory.

Given the hatred and attacks by some Christians on here, it's not surprising. The amount of hate directed at LBGT for example. I can agree with you that many of us other Christians who do not attack get splashed with their behavior, but then so do those non-Christians who do not hate or attack get splashed with the behavior of those that do.

According to the fairy tale, believers are not supposed to allow people who engage in certain bad behaviors into their congregations. They are suppose to expel them. When believers accept such known active people in their midst, they come across as hypocrites or weak believers in their religion unworthy of respect, especially when the miscreants are their priests.

Yes, for some people it is a "nice game" to hate anything Christian.
And when they play their hateful game, then it is especially the Catholic Church that they love to hate.

Now - I see myself as a critical Catholic.
But the more the Catholics are attacked, the more Catholic I start to feel again! :)

Yes, one can say that Bavaria is mostly Catholic.
But as in all the German states, there is a mixture.
The Northern part of Bavaria, i.e. Franconia, is traditionally Protestant.

Depends on the size of the stone in the attackers hand. Mainly everything from simple faith to world hunger and death.

I would have thought it would have been issues where the Christian right wing continues to discriminate against gays and women without a just cause.

How do you answer or justify those issues?

    Just anything.

And for the simple reason that they exist.

I am still puzzled by the fact that I am the only one who has outed himself as Catholic here.

    Now I wonder:

Is it just that I am the only one who has outed himself?
Or am I indeed the only Catholic in this forum?

Perhaps if you did not lie so easily, you would have fewer issues to run away from.

Just anything, and because they exist is what your inquisitions went after.

Is reciprocity and you being treated like you treat others bothering you?

    You misunderstand.
I am not talking of myself.
I am talking of Christian in general.

But apart from that, I do not agree with you either.
and I wonder why you answer in such an aggressive and offensive and insulting way.
    Over,
