    I think you are wrong Qwenie. We are not shaped by our experiences, we LEARN from our experiences. We 'shape' ourselves from what we learn from direct experience and from what we learn about the wider world from a myriad of other sources. We put all that together and apply it to what we WANT.

    I guess I meant this ‘shaping’ more – and didn’t explain – in a particular context of it being like a ‘residue of experience’ that can act on or grip a person without the person’s awareness, culminating in strong reactions/overreactions. There’s a lot of that on the forum.

    Yes, we learn. And there are sometimes backward steps among the forward steps. Cos we’re human. :smile:
