The latest Associated Press poll has 62% of Americans blaming the Republicans for the government shutdown. I was unsure who to blame until I watched the video below. Only then did I realize that the Republicans have been planning this shutdown for months. Who do you blame for the shutdown?

I would've voted BOTH, but we have a Dem in the WH and a Dem majority in the Senate... so no way it could be anybody else's fault but the ones holding the most power.

    Here's a button for you. Democrat's Suck.

No one should be surprised some posters, like yourself, would choose the ********** option.

From the previous 4 posts, I have a pretty good idea of two of the three votes for Dems.....

It was obvious to the authors and others responsible for ACA's content and provisions, that it would meet with stiff opposition when it was submitted for debate and when it came up for a vote.

In fact, they KNEW the bill would probably go down in flames before it ever got to the Oval Office for signing.

So, Nancy Pelosi IIRC came up with the idea of sneaking it through so no one would have even a chance to object to anything of substance about the bill because no one would be given a chance to read it all or in some cases, at all!

She told her fellow Representatives they would have to find out what was in the bill only AFTER they voted for it!

    And her plan worked!

It sailed through the Senate and Obama signed it into law. And the Dem's plan for manipulating the law and their fellow politicos was complete. The Dems., in concert with or orchestrated by Barack Obama, had succeeded in sewing the seed of Communism and post-Constitutional Imperial rule.
And lots of other nasty things.

Well, once the GOP and the public began to discover just how bad it was the sneaky little bill had grown into a stinking monstrosity which seriously threatens to hurt or negatively impact every American for the rest of all of our lives and until the end of the Republic.

All that Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio et al. are doing is trying to prevent this most serious domestic threat to this country since the Civil War, from going off in our faces.

Those individuals are showing US what political courage and leadership looks like.

    So, yeah.

The Congress gave the Senate a budget which WOULD HAVE KEPT THE GOVERNMENT RUNNING.

THE DEMS. AND THE PRES. REFUSE TO USE THE MONEY WHICH IS THERE FOR JUST THAT PURPOSE,,,TO KEEP THE GOVERNMENT RUNNING.

Therefore it's clear that the Dems are at fault. Every step of the way they were doing this deception game of hide and seek or something and trying to fool everyone so that Obama's devilish agenda could be realized.

    Dem's fault.

Can you imagine anybody screaming IT'S CONGRESS' FAULT if this shutdown had happened under George W. Bush's watch? Geesh, he got blamed for a hurricane and Obama doesn't even get blamed when the whole dang govt shuts down.

We are witnessing what happens when DEMS ARE IN POWER. Chaos & discord. And a constant stream of the blame game.

The hangup is in the House of Representatives, not the White House or the Senate. If it was the Senate refusing to pass the CR, then you could say it's the Democrats. Since they already compromised on the CR and let the Republicans set the funding levels, you can't even honestly say they haven't negotiated or tried to compromise. They already did, and now the Republicans aren't honoring their end of the compromise. So apparently everyone expects the Democrats to compromise with the Republicans AGAIN even though they didn't bother honoring the first compromise.

The GOP has decided not to wait until they have both houses and decided to start undoing everything they could from the past few years. They can't even come up with an alternative, so they are all going to hold their breath until we turn blue and tip over.

I now have even more reason to ask, what are they good for?

The so-called 'hangup' wouldn't be there if the WH knew how to work with congress to get what he wants. He's already got the senate in his pocket. All he had to do was LEAD the house, but he couldn't stay off the golf course long enough to meet with his opposition.

Too late now. The ball's in Obama's court. And all he seems to be able to do with it is pitch it from Harry to Nancy and back to him.

Meanwhile, the govt is still closed.

    And he's still POTUS.

I guess to some, this is all it's about. Finding something, anything, to blame him for. Darrell Issa seems to have had the same affliction.

    Sucks to have ODS.

The "hang-up" wouldn't be there if House Republicans would pass a CR like they agreed to. The deal was made. Republicans got to set the funding, Democrats got an assurance that no Obamacare attacks would be a part of it. The CR contains the Republican funding levels, but the attacks on Obamacare are happening. Someone here made a deal and is not honoring their end of it. The compromise, the "working with Congress", that ALREADY HAPPENED.

They tolerate all kinds of people even those completely different from their points of view and sensibilities.

And because, as you might be the first to say, Conservatives have all the all the guns and money, you should feel grateful for our Conservative sense of Christian congeniality and lack of impulsiveness.

What sucks is this desperation to defend Obama. It's not Boehner's administration. Issa has absolutely no power over us. Cruz is merely a jr. senator from Texas. There is only ONE man elected to have power over the entire country and that's Barack Obama. Kick & scream all you want, but that's the reality of the situation.

This is the clown you put in office... deal with it.

Well, they made a deal with US before the deal with Democrats... and that deal was to STOP OBAMA'S CRAZY SPENDING. And that includes Obamacare. (which, even if it did work, we can't afford!)

Republicans are doing what we elected them to do.

    And Obama is 'in charge.'

My "desperation" doesn't even hold a torch to your witch hunt. But at every stage, where you think you finally have something to bring him down, reality hits, and more rational people see the "crying wolf" game being played.

    like you said...deal with it.....

We're all dealing with it... that's the point.

One min he's the leader of the free world... the next he's a sniveling panty-waist you have to protect from the mean ole Republicans.

Make up your mind. Which is it?

My mind is not the one that needs help to make up, those are your words.

But it's nice to know how you feel about your president. Feeling patriotic today?

Patriotic? That's funny in the same post with your president.

No reason to go back and forth over this disagreement. Barack Obama is the POTUS and the US is in chaos under his watch. Not to mention struggling with twice as much debt.

Defend him all you want, but that doesn't change the fact THE BUCK STOPS on Obama's desk. (with his feet)

Now you're basically pretending like Obama himself is the one who shut down the government because only he has "the power".

Obama does not have the power to open the government. Only the House of Representatives has that power since the Senate has already passed the CR.

I suppose when the facts don't allow you to be honest, fantasy and lies are the next resort.

What you just said changes nothing. The call is for the Democrats to compromise. They've done that already. So the only reason the government is still shut down is because the Republicans don't have the votes to repeal Obamacare, even though Obamacare continues on since it's funding was never a part of the CR to begin with.

Nothing about what you said changes the fact that this is a Republican controlled shutdown. You don't get to claim the Republicans are "doing what you sent them to do" while at the same time claiming the shutdown is Obama's fault.

Obama has the authority to close whatever he deems necessary to close, during a Government shutdown. Everything that's been closed falls under the Executive Branch of the Federal Government. The House merely has the power to start spending bills that are voted on/agreed to/signed.

Republicans are doing what they were elected to do (whether it's an election season ploy or not)... stop Obamacare. Obama knows this, the Democrats know this... it's never been a secret. Americans have been boycotting Obamacare since day 1. Polls on Obamacare have consistently shown that the people do not want it... Democrats ALL know that it's unpopular and the majority of the American people do not want this crappy legislation.

Republicans are listening to the American people and offering up to fund the entire government, sans Obamacare - they even asked for merely a 1 year postponement (especially since the $500 million website doesn't work). Democrats have consistently said they would NOT negotiate and then they try to turn the table, suggesting Republicans won't negotiate. Dems are consistently dishonest.

Republicans have offered to fund specific portions of the government, only to be denied by Democrats over and over again. The blame sits squarely on Democratic shoulders.

Actually you're close to right here. Except you didn't go far enough... Republicans are in control... because Democrats are OUT OF CONTROL. Even with a majority in the senate and the entire Executive Branch, they're helpless bystanders to the entire process.

Sure nothing to brag about there. Democrats are to blame for failure to maintain control.
