I imagine the White House celebrates many traditions, Nowruz just being one of them. So what? I'd also imagine they'll celebrate St. Patrick's day next week. If not, I may have to send a strong letter of protest.

Every country and every culture in the world has holidays. People need holidays and when someone can't enjoy celebrating the holidays of their country or culture, then, by golly, they have a right to reach out and embrace holidays from other countries and other cultures. April 15th is the Day of the Sun, the birthday of Kim Ill-Sung, in North Korea and that could be a two-fer for the family in the White House.

I lived in turkey for years, near Adana, and I don't recall celebrating nowruz, or even acknowledging it...

I asked my wife about it (she's Turkish) and said she's heard of it but not many people celebrate it. It wouldn't be considered part of Turkish culture, more like a foreign holiday only celebrated by those with a Persian background.

Persian culture existed long before the Islamic revolution

It's nothing more than a dog and pony show to try and win over the Iranians.

The Iranians might be a threat to world peace - but I doubt they're really that stupid.

    It's the ultimate mission creep.

The White House starts negotiating with Iran over its nuclear ambitions, and then next thing we know the White House is celebrating Iranian holidays.

That's what I see...a weak attempt to curry favor with the Mullahs. Obama is desperate to get any sort of agreement out of Iran at all. The idea that he seriously wants to block Iranian nuclear ambition doesn't even
seem to be an issue anymore.

They also celebrate Hanukkah, Ramadan, Chinese new year, and so on.

BFHD. There are people here who take the faux outrage thing to far.

It's a daily dose of "(*)(*)(*)(*) you America and all the values that made you great", by the Obama Administration.

The Liberal ideology that supports and defends this garbage is pathetic.

The Iranians are no more a threat to world peace than we are. Iran has its proxies, we're the ones who invented Proxy warfare to get rid of the Soviets. To which Kissinger bragged "What's more important, the fall of the Soviet Empire or a bunch of ragtag muslims?" Well, Mr. Kissinger, I'd say those bunch of ragtag muslims became more important.

Why? We could negotiate with the Soviets. Sure, yes, on the polar opposite of political beliefs but the Soviets didn't want to be blown up anymore than we wanted to blow them up.(And likewise, most moderate Russians in Russia don't want to see a mushroom cloud over Washington DC either)

We're in this mess today, because we seemingly cannot stop ourselves from getting tugged due to Israeli interests, as well as Saudi Arabian. If we go back even further, I'd say we're in this mess because we failed to safely secure nuclear secrets. Russia got a hand on the knowledge, then France, etc.

This is a great time to be anything but American. Every tin-pot dictator, terrorist and rogue government can't believe the good fortune of having this President in the White House.

While I will agree that we tend to get into messes we ought not - that is not the case with Iran because it's leaders have often advocated the destruction of the United States and our allies. In addition, Iran has been a state-supporter of terrorism on many occasions.

On Russia - I agree. Obama and the EU went in and funded (and organized) the ouster of Ukraine's duly elected President. All one need do is listen to the call recording of Victoria Nuland to understand our heavy-handed role. Now, we're moving troops AND heavy artillery into eastern Europe.

I've noticed that as well. Now, it's just one big American--Iranian party, at least at the White House.

Why Obama would even think pandering to that nation would make them do a 180-degree turnaround is beyond me. History does not bear that out.

I can't figure out the bizarre actions of Obama but sometimes it seems he's a very dangerous man.
