A poster who hasn’t been posting for some time. He is/was an American military figure. Some think he died in Afghanistan, some think he has gone underground. No one is certain, to my knowledge.
I always thought he was the War Nerd, but then the Nerd wrote a book which was nothing like. Still he could have simply changed styles, and he did disappear at about the same time. I doubt he was real military. His stuff ranged from fairly well-informed to utterly ridiculous, like Tom Clancy but not nearly so well writtten.
He did say some pretty delusional stuff but I’m no judge of his being a real soldier or not. Who was the War Nerd?

When Russians asked him how he knew so much about their technology his reply was "I made it all up" OTOH I read a book "How To Make War" which was a guide to military gaming, and I swear Clancy had lifted terms right from it
