Last updated 09:31, March 19 2015; Gunmen in military uniforms have stormed Tunisia's national museum, killing 20 people including 17 foreign tourists in one of the worst militant attacks in a country that has largely escaped the region's "Arab Spring" turmoil.

Visitors from Italy, Germany, Poland and Spain were among the dead in the noon assault on the Bardo museum near parliament in central Tunis on Wednesday (local time), Prime Minister Habib Essid said.

Information are still not very accurate, anyway it seems that it was a political attack. The terrorists [this is what we can infer from the declarations of our Foreign Minister and other local sources] were trying and attack the parliament and when they realized that it was well protected they have changed target, attacking the museum with the tourists.

Tunisia is the only one Muslim country that, after the Arab Spring, has been able to create lay institutions [today Tunisia is a lay democracy]. This is annoying [to say the least] for Islamists.

It's early to indicate ISIS, there is the possibility of other Jihadist groups who have infiltrated Tunisia, may be coming from Libya.

Unless the people involved happen to be reading the forum and absentmindedly confess, how are you ever going to get any kind of meaningful answer to that? It still only a matter of hours since the attack occurred. Are you really incapable of waiting a little while for fact and evidence to become apparent.

Or is your post really saying "OK, what wild speculation can everyone throw out to attack their preferred hate-figures today?".

If it is ISIS, then we are probably talking more of those inspired by the group than any card carrying members. The groups operations are mostly focused in Syria and Iraq, going as far west as Libya. I may be wrong but my money is on AQIM. The have both the operatives and ideology to commit such an attack...

Its too early to tell if its workplace violence or not as we don't know if the muslim terrorists are muslim yet.

Of course, why didn't I think of that? I bet some stressed office worker just went off after making a lousy typo! He then grabbed an M16 hidden away in his snuff stuff and began blasting away!! May I remind you the massacre didn't happen in the USA!

If the Tunisian government is like the USA government, they will make sure their version of events is a flexible, changeable mishmash of zero to half truths. Truth is one of the first causalities in a governments war against its people.

On the basis of actual information sure. At the point you first asked though, there was pretty much zero concrete information available. You weren't asking for speculation, you were asking for uninformed speculation.

    Extremists did it.

Extremism has morphed into a nebula. People become radicalized and never have to meet anyone from a group to help that group's cause. The internet is the new training camp. Weapons are easily accessed in most countries.

This is a problem that is coming to the west.

Imagine pairs of gunmen in body armor attacking 20 malls across the US at the same time. It would be worse than 911 as far as causing terror and it would be much easier to pull off.

Let's be more specific. Sunni radical Muslims did it once again as numerous times before. As long as you allow Saudi Arabia and their satellites to finance Takfiri/Wahabi rubble the world is going to face terrorist attacks. Sunni radical Muslims are on the loose. By the way, it's almost as if the western media is trying to cover up Sunni Muslims crimes by using terms extremists, jihadist etc...etc...Be specific, Sunni radical Muslims.
