I want some real opinions on who really wants socialism in our country. To my knowledge it has never worked in any other country so why even attempt it in the U.S.? My opinion is it’s extremely dangerous because once you vote it in you can’t go back.
If the people go there they will never be able to get back here from there. Once caught in the net of socialism there will never again be an opportune year like 1776.
All of the Democrats are calling for government paid healthcare which never worked anywhere. All of the democrats want European style free college, government paid infrastructure, Scandinavian style labor unions. That's the very definition of socialism. Any country that has attempted socialism is doomed to becoming Venezuela.
Wherever Big Bad Government exists you have some elements of socialism. The U.S. has not been immune.
The 20+ Democratic candidates have embraced socialism, but not just for Americans. They want government paid healthcare for illegals, too. They are unelectable.
You know the DP is in Big Do Do when Thomas Friedman is gagging on every one of the Democrats running for president. "I’m struck at how many people have come up to me recently and said, “Trump’s going to get re-elected, isn’t he?” And in each case, when I drilled down to ask why, I bumped into the Democratic presidential debates in June. I think a lot of Americans were shocked by some of the things they heard there. I was. I was shocked that so many candidates in the party whose nominee I was planning to support want to get rid of the private health insurance covering some 250 million Americans and have “Medicare for all” instead. I think we should strengthen Obamacare and eventually add a public option. I was shocked that so many were ready to decriminalize illegal entry into our country. I think people should have to ring the doorbell before they enter my house or my country. I was shocked at all those hands raised in support of providing comprehensive health coverage to undocumented immigrants. I think promises we’ve made to our fellow Americans should take priority, like to veterans in need of better health care. And I was shocked by how feeble was front-runner Joe Biden’s response to the attack from Kamala Harris — and to the more extreme ideas promoted by those to his left." THE NEW YORK TIMES, ‘Trump’s Going to Get Re-elected, Isn’t He?’, Voters have reason to worry., By Thomas L. Friedman, Opinion Columnist, July 16, 2019. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/16/opinion/trump-2020.html?module=inline
I’m a big fan of voluntary socialism. It works pretty good anywhere. It can even mitigate effects of authoritarian government which is what I oppose regardless of how it’s marketed.
American’s wait in line with their mouths wide open to swallow the bullshit handed out to them by cooperate America and happily re-mortgage their home to pay the rip off merchants for a heart pass and tell us their the greatest. Oh and don’t forget to carry your gun when you go to church and arm the schoolteachers so they can protect the eight year old pupils while they wait for the next massacre. Any government's role is to look after all their people, not to enrich billionaires.
To have any intelligent discussion on "Socialism" you first have to define what you mean by socialism. If you go by the textbook definition - your statement "it has never worked" is silly because it has never been tried in a modern nation. Socialism worked very well in subsistence communities (tribes basically) that operated on the basis of generalized reciprocity. If you are defining socialism as "wealth redistribution" - something that exists in all forms of socialism - Socialism has worked in modern nations. The US is a socialist nation as per this definition. If we are talking "totalitarian communism" - this is a completely different beast. In any case - this topic can not be discussed intelligently unless you state what your definition of socialism is.
