    I did. Great show.

Funnily enough my least favourite season was Season Four which actually contained my favourite episode, Hush. The brilliance of Hush was that it contained almost zero dialogue and so everything was told through actions.

I liked it up until they turned her into "super Buffy" which I believe was in season 6. After that point it just became silly. I actually liked the spinoff Angel better because they didn't make him invulnerable to every single thing that came along.

In Season 6 she was a mess, getting over being dead.

Well whatever season it was it basically screwed the show over. I stopped watching it after that so I don't know if that was the last season of the show or not.

She was super Buffy in Season 7, which was the last season.

Love the show- great Josh Whedon mix of humor, violence and wierd insight into the human condition.

    Some of my favorite episodes:
When Willow's girlfriend died- most of the violence in Buffy is deliberately cartoonish- but this was deliberately shocking- and had repercussions.
When Buffy died- and is brought back- when she revealed to Spike what it was really like.....that was great TV
The episode when Dawn was introduced- we were watching the series in prime time then, and literally my wife and I looked at each other and wondered if we had missed an episode.

    Great series- still holds up.

I never watched it and so I guess shouldn't comment, but the reason I never watched was I thought it was a terribly thin premise to base a whole series on. Then later I saw it described as a sort of American live action Sailor Moon, so I tried watching but could never really get interested.

I liked Josh Whedon in Firefly, largely because he has a sense of humor, but it eventually had the same problem; Space Opera as Horse Opera, ok, we get it, anything else? (actually the "Serenity" arc, which was meant to be a subtext before it was canceled, was about the best thing I've seen him do)

Who didn't watch Buffy? Real vampires don't sparkle.

Some other of my fave episodes.

"Dopplegangerland", season 3. Vamp Willow, just a classic.
"The Prom", season 3. A tearjerker as Buffy gets a toy surprise.
"The Body", season 5. Rips your heart right out.
"Once More With Feeling", season 6. Who knew Joss could compose too?
"Tabula Rasa" Season 6. Another classic.
"Smashed" season 6, for Spike and Buffy bringing down the house.

I think Buffy would have to rank in my top 10 of favorite shows.

As for your list, I mostly agree, particularly The Body. I think that was my favorite episode of the series, which was odd since it was so unlike most other episodes.... ultra realistic.

They really had a flare for dialogue and witty comments, at just the perfect moment.

I just get annoyed when the kids watch and say "Hey, that's Lily!". Makes me want to kick them off my lawn.

What was more shocking about Tara's death was that Amber Benson had her credits added to the main cast for that episode.

yes you are right. You shouldn;t comment.

I thought Buffy reached its apex in series 3. I hated series 4 and it gradually improved after that.(inho)

I thought Season 4's biggest flaw was Adam. While Buffy had technological enemies before, and after, it was never the Big Bad for the season and so took away from the supernatural element, at least in my opinion. There were other flaws though. Riley was another flaw, for instance. The normal guy who turns out to be not normal but wants to be normal. I don't think it worked. Buffy's relationships worked best when they were (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up, not normal.

I agree here. I despised Riley and the whole initiative thing -right down to the Uniforms.

Loved Buffy and Angel. Recently finished seeing both series for a second time. Better on Netflix because you can follow stories and characters as you please. I never saw Buffy on TV, but I would have found it intolerable to wait a week between episodes. There are so, so many unforgettable scenes and characters.

The Mayor. Loved his mix of sincere goody-goodyness and evil.

Drusilla. Always swooning and mooning. Over-the-top baroque delight.

Faith. Eliza Dushku turns me on. Love the bad girl vibe.

Hush is a small masterpiece. The Gentlemen and their strait-jacketed minions! How original and how visually riveting.

Harmony. We can all sympathize with a character out of her depth and trying to adjust. Funny and sad at the same time.

Spike. His evolution from just another vampire to a cool guy with sand to paramour and hero.

Once More With Feeling. Buffy as Broadway musical. Another triumph of imagination.

    When Willow goes wild.

Same Time, Same Place. Willow goes unseen by her friends and is nearly eaten by a demon who slices off strips of her skin.

So many brilliant things. Great show.

When I started watching Supernatural the first show that popped to mind was Buffy and Angel. I supposed that is a good thing. Other than Supernatural I haven't really found anything that compares favorably with the Buffy/Angel mix. The only reason I am watching Teen Wolf is because of Crystal Reed and Hemlock Grove lost me by the third episode. True Blood lost me after the second season as it just got way to silly and to convoluted. I will never watch Vampire Diaries......ever. Being Human started off OK but just got silly and they really screwed up with the vampire guy. I am sorry but that guy manages to kill a half dozen innocent bystanders every week and everyone just says "Oh well, that's just Aiden." And Josh the werewolf guy is the biggest whiny (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) I have ever seen on any show. Sorry to rant I really just want to see some good ole sci-fi fantasy shows that don't end up sucking so bad after the first season. I liked all of Buffy except for the very last season and I liked all the Angel seasons. At least I still have Doctor Who.

Joss Whedon had pulled that before. The two part pilot episode featured Zander's friend who got vamped in the show credits. So you never really thought he wasn't going to make it.

Season 4 was where it started to go downhill with the commandos or whatever. Season 2 was the best in my opinion.

Only trouble with shows like Buffy and Angel is they leave you wanting more. What do you watch after they're done, and you've seen them again? Joss Whedon had another show - Dollhouse - that was canceled after two seasons of mostly weak reviews. Anyone familiar?

I also loved Battlestar Galactica. Thinking about watching the prequel - Caprica. It does have Bear McReary's wonderful music, just like BG. Any advice?

Dollhouse sucked. I guess even Whedon has a turd occasionally. I think he is behind the upcoming SHIELD TV show coming out if I am not mistaken.

BG was awesome. I was pissed that they were replacing Boomer and Starbuck with women for some stupid PC reason (ironic since they got rid of the only black pilot on the show) but after I saw how hot Grace Park was I forgave replacing Boomer. Still was pissed about Starbuck though.

Dollhouse was problematic. And a show that Josh is not real pleased with- apparently the network got real wierded out once they realized what the show was about. The show was missing the playfulness of Buffy and Firefly and Avengers.

BG was very good- but so very dark. I still havent' finished the whole thing, but certainly some of the best SF that has been on TV.

Regarding the other post about the casting- just glad they didn't have a stupid robot dog like the original BG.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Starbuck was around until the end, even though it was a post-mortem Starbuck. Grace Park was always there in one of her many editions. Glad I'm not the only one who found Park hot.

Whedon has lucked into the Marvel Comics movie franchise. That means wealth and fame for him, but it will be TV's loss.

We have the entire series on DVD, and are re-watching it with our kids. Halfway through Season 6 at the moment (just finished watching "Double Meat Palace"). It's remarkable how well it stands up over time.

If you are referring to what I was saying I meant from the original TV show from the 80s. Starbuck was played by the guy that played Face on A-Team and Boomer was a black guy. I just thought it was cynical to replace both of them with women but as I said I forgave them for Boomer. The actress that played Starbuck is a really good actress, she is currently in Longmire and does a good job there, I just don't find her very attractive.....too manly.
