I didn't know Trump was a fan of Norman Vincent Peal but it makes sense that he would follow a cult leader like that and then become one later in his own right.

 

Yes, that is why the term "cult" applies to the Orange One.

I think Trump read his book when he was young and was using those concepts ever since before Trump ran for the WH in 2015. Televangelist Joel Olsteen also uses his philosophy throughout his sermons. In fact, it is part of the Wealth Gospel evangelicalism that certain Televangelists use in their sermons.

A better book, 7 Habits for Highly Effective People and its fermentations from other authors.

 

He has been a fan of his since his 20s.

 

I found Religious Science in the early 80's and those prinicples changed my life....made me strong and confident that all WILL BE OK, Better Yet as it was said All Is Good......

@joyce martino trumps "positive thinking" is what leads to his refusal to admit an obvious defeat and to believe that his delusions somehow shapes reality for the rest of us.

Trump has done OK for himself, YOU should be so OK....

As he said from day 1, clean out the swamps, and I didn't understand that until I got on board the Trump Train.

He is not looking to make friends, he's got plenty, he wants to Clean Out the Socialists in gubmint.

 

Norman Vincent Peal was a very popular conservative preacher who had a following in New York City in the 1970s. He wasn't one of my favorites, but he did have a sense of humor. My wife's college roommate was a part of his congregation.

It's hard to believe that he would have have much of following today given the way New York City has gone.

 

how has "new york city gone? " there are 8 million of the most entrepreneurial hustlers as ever collected in one area. "positive thinking" is a religion for cold call salesmen who must justify their lives.

He was as controversial in the 1970s as another very famous preacher named Jim Jones. Both were very popular to the segment of the population whom they were concentrating on with their message. They came from opposite backgrounds but went very different paths. And both would have found it hard today to preach the message they were preaching. Pearle would have preached the Wealth Gospels today on God TV or some other network, while Jim Jones would be doing podcasts, YouTube, etc with his messages.

 

I think you should listen to Chuck Swindoll, the late Dr. Charles Standley, and a few others who are more authentic and realistic than Pearle ever was.

I think you are emphasizing more on Peale. For Trump, he read his book when he was in his 20s and has been a follower ever since. You see this in how Trump exaggerates pretty anything and everything, from Taj Mahal to whatever business venture he was selling. He even talked about it in a Oprah Wimprey interview in the late 1980s. Geez.

 

sorry, but as an engineer my work is noted for safety factors and "fail safe" design. someone (dr fauci in this example, and america's nurses) has to pick up the pieces left by the optimists who believe that deadly pandemics "go away by themselves." .
