To many Americans Foreign Policy is not the most important issue in the election especially in 2012 where the economy and domestic issues are at the forefront of nearly every discussion of the presidential election, but with both the Republican and Democratic candidates more engaged in negative attacks than focusing on fixing the issues we face today, should Foreign Policy matter? The amount of money we are spending on war and the amount of lives we have lost has gotten us more enemies than friends in the world, to be sure, not to mention that with both Democrats and Republicans supporting very aggressive, even hawkish attitudes, we are left with little choice and what choice their is probably does not reflect the views of most Americans.

The endless wars of the future: Why votes for Gary Johnson matter now more than ever

I think this article lays out a great case for why its not a waste of a vote to vote for Gary Johnson, or for that matter Jill Stein or Rocky Anderson. I've always considered myself to be an "Eisenhower Republican" and I've been told by many people that my views don't reflect that at all but to put this in context, the distance that the American political spectrum has moved in the direction of right and authoritarian renders what in any other country would be considered an aggressive foreign policy borderline pacifist in the US today. In my mind, the US is such a great nation because it fought against imperialism to gain independence and that is why, with good reason, we value our freedom so much. This stands in stark contrast to our foreign policy today, which is basically one of imperialism. This article points out that of 50 apocalyptic terrorist groups 43 were solved by diplomacy and only 7 by force, if you are truly concerned with the rise of terrorism and the threat it poses to this country (and I agree it is a great one and one we should concern ourselves with) aggressive foreign policy will not help, and in fact I think its only served to make the problem worse. I know Gary Johnson will not get elected, but I voted for him because I believe that he has the real concerns of the country at heart and the more people that vote for him the more the mainstream media will have to listen and maybe, just maybe, it will effect legislation someday.

Anyway, I'd love to hear people's opinions on the article and what they think is the best foreign policy for the country to pursue. If you don't agree with Romney, Obama, or any of the third party candidates, that's fine too, tell me what you would do...lay it out in gory detail. The best thing you can do for your country other than voting is having an ernest discussion about the issues that matter to you!
