It is obvious that with the whole XL pipeline fiasco, the debacle in the Gulf with almost no permitting being done despite all safety standards being met and the refusal to tap into other sources within our national boundaries and our waters, that the environmentalists who now control the Democrat Party have one agenda.

The abject Starvation of America of Fossil Fuels regardless of economic consequences.

    Why?

Is this really a smart strategy? To literally crush the US economy and starve Americans of an absolutely vital natural resource?

It is a shortsighted, radical and dumb agenda that will destroy the American economy and destroy the lives of millions of Americans.

The technology that America would need for renewable energy usage on a broad scale simply isn't mature yet and won't be for a couple decades. Get over it and stop trying to starve us of fossil fuels we desperately need and the jobs that come with them!

I believe that they're trying to do the whole "People only change when they are forced to" thing. They want us to get off fossil fuels, which is not a bad thing, but there is really no great alternative at the moment.

People will flock to an alternative if it is actually better than what they currently have. You can't force people to use a worse, more expensive product!

One theory is that he's temporarily making his environmentalist owners happy until next year by balking at the Keystone pipeline. Meanwhile he's probably whispering to his union owners that he'll change his mind after the election, betraying the environs after getting their votes, and do the pipeline anyway. That way the unions will cut him slack over the jobs aspect of the issue and it will be too late for the environmentalists to do anything about it.

Just trying to think like a sleazy, lying politician, that's all.

It's funny, you hear the quasi-cons on the board complaining constantly about the subsidies to alternative energy but anytime the oil companies come begging to the trough, the quasi-cons start writing blank checks.

I just want to know why the idea of starving your fellow Americans of a vital resource they absolutely need and causing economic hardship and chaos makes you feel good?

It is obviously a vast conspiracy to destroy our way of life and apple pie.

    ....

Or simply moving towards different energy sources? Hmmmmm....

What laws have been passed that prevent the towing of vehicles?

I would need to see in what way peoples lives have been destroyed.

Moving from one fuel source to another isn't going to be a quick process.

Well apparently environmentalist whackjobs are doing everything they can to impatiently push us there by starving us of natural resources we need absolutely need in order to transport people and products around the country economically and efficiently causing:

A)The price of food and other commodities to rise

    B)Driving up labor costs

C)Driving up the price of final produced products, often out of the range of many consumers for higher tier items.

    D)Forcing Americans to recreate less

I'd say these are all destroying people's quality of life.

Whoever develops a sustainable and affordable alternative to fossil fuels will rule the world. I have absolutely no clue why any American wouldn't want us to put as many dollars as possible in to finding an alternative to fossil fuels. That would create more jobs than we've ever seen and give us the upper hand on the rest of the world.

Instead now we have to deal with shady countries that have the power because they have the oil.

Ummm...... no. I have friends who have purchased new trucks, they still haul their trailers and ATV's, and go hunting. It is an imagined issue.

The same things can be said for those who believe that doing nothing is a great idea.

Is there a better way of handling the issue?

    lol

    Conspiracy theory anyone?

The only roads that I have seen closed are the redundant roads. If two roads lead to the same place, why not remove one?

Walking isn't that hard. I walked over a small portion of those millions of acres closed to vehicles..... with a heavy backpack for 1st season, and a 15lb. rifle for second season. Not a big deal.

'Cause it's bad for us. Sort of like PCP and steroids. Makes you very tough for a while but then all of a sudden you find yourself headbutting everything, your testicles shrink and you grow breasts.

But we're addicted, as a society. So we'll go through all the stages of shaking an addiction. I forget the official order of things, but I think right now we're somewhere between denial and bargaining.
