Didn't Congress overwhelmingly passan Authorization for the Use of Force? I remember Democrats eagerly signed that authorization.

I know your attempt to divert as you avoid the facts.

Actually from FY2001 to through FY2007. What's your point. They hit a post recession/recovery peak deficit of $400B and then quickly brought it back down to $161B. What is your complaint.

Tell me did we get more capgains tax revenue at Clinton's 29%, the Gingrich/Kaisch 21% or the Bush43/Rep 15%. Which one produced the most economic activity?

So this is justification to ignore our debt now?

There are more constructive ways to deal with our national debt rather than threatening default.

At least 50%, and likely far more of that military spending is not helping against China or Russia or anyone else.

US military already absolutely dwarves their militaries. If you want to spend to actually counter them more should be spend on cybersecurity maybe, but you can cut the rest of the miliary in well more than half and still be the most powerful military on earth. Most of this money is going down the drain to weapons companies with sweetheart government deals.

Calling it "National Defence" has been a farce in the USA for well over 50 years now.

Biden is threatening default if his plans aren’t met. Find me one Republican who said they don’t support paying the bills.

How was it Bush who got us into three wars instead of President Bush and Congress? He didn't do anything by himself.

But House Republicans have leverage with the budget don't they? All they have to do is refuse to sign a budget bill which they are not happy with.

I think that will happen this time. There may be legitimate negotiations.

Fake News. Go back to 2022 spending.

2022 spending was 26.5% higher than 2019 spending, the last year before the COVID distortion on federal spending.

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Federal government total expenditures [W019RCQ027SBEA], retrieved from FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/W019RCQ027SBEA, May 25, 2023.

Inflation has only increase by 19% since 2019. https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

The US population has only grown by 1% since 2019.

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Population [POPTHM], retrieved from FRED, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis; https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/POPTHM, May 25, 2023.

The GOP is offering 6.5% more than Population and Inflation growth. They have put a very reasonable offer on the table, and it's the only offer to raise the Debt Limit, that has passed a Chamber of Congress.

    It's a solid offer.

They have passed a budget. They are in negotiations with the Dems now on the final bill. Should they fall for the Dems "just give us higher spending and we promise we will cut spending" again. How did that work out for Bush41?

Of course it is all we have and we are falling behind as China races to expand it's military.

"China has overtaken the United States when it comes to the sheer size of its navy. While the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has around 340 ships, the US Navy has less than 300 ships at last count, as per Eurasian Times. According to CNN, the Pentagon wants to have 350 manned ships by 2045."
https://www.firstpost.com/explainer...tes when it comes to,350 manned ships by 2045.

They also have a larger land force than ours.

And if we do get into a war with China why do you believe it would just be a one front war with China? We have to be prepared for a combined war with China, the NK coming over it's border, the Islamic war against us taking advantage and even Russia taking advantage.

Oh hell yes they'll fall for that. Dems know how to play inside the ten, republicans don't.
