My main reason for being pro-choice is that I don't know any fire-breathing pro-lifers out there who wouldn't allow their own daughters to have one if an embarrassing pregnancy came up. Maybe such people are out there, but I've seen the hypocrisy.
I am Pro-Choice because I am not a raving egomaniac who thinks his opinion should dictate the lives of others. In my "Opinion" Abortion is a terrible thing which prevents the development of a new person, thus my four kids. However...I am not a woman, pregnant, or will ever be either. Just as I feel I should not force someone to stop eating Twinkies just because her 450 lb. form makes me feel disgusted, I do not feel inclined to tell her she must do something else with her body she does not wish to. Forget the whole "Personhood" debacle for a minute (it will never be settled anyway)...and think about what kind of person thinks they have the authority to control another.
Then surely you believe the Abolitionists were raving egomaniacs as well. Right? Then you think abstinence is a terrible thing too. Right? Evidently you are mystified as to why we have laws against murder but not gluttony.
Evidently, you think expressing your opinion as an absolute.....is cool. Wait...where have I heard this before?
Because...? Because...? Hey, I'm open to the possibility there is some other reason for employing such a retarded parallel. It may in fact be perfectly proper, depending on which definition is being used. If, e.g., I say it's my opinion that murder is always wrong, and that my opinion in that regard is absolutely true, that is all perfectly consistent with the definition of "opinion" as "a personal view, attitude, or appraisal". You're welcome.
That is not my "opinion". My "opinion" is that elective abortion is murder; and I've offered plenty of support for that "opinion" and you bloody well know it... ...so clearly this question is best directed at the questioner.
Since you've stated that elective abortion is murder, do you believe that the woman who requested the abortion and the doctor who performed the abortion should be convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced accordingly?
I have always been pro life and my somewhat recently found faith has reinforced that belief...I simply feel that all life is precious and should be protected and I will continue to do what I can, legally, to protect the lives of those that cannot protect themselves. As many of you may already know, I currently have 4 foster children, all of which where saved from abortion, which we are currently in the process of adopting, and recently we where approached by the state about another child, that has not been born yet, that they want us to take in and adopt, and of course we said yes, and we are eagerly awaiting our newest gift from the Lord. We also have 2 children of our own, our oldest was born when my wife was just 16 years old, hes now 24. I can assure you its not easy, just last night our 3 year old went to Yale New Haven at 3 AM with a fever, croup, and he also has asthma. Needless to say I pulled an all nighter. Our grocery bill typically is around $400 every week, and it seems like we are always "on the go", but it is all well worth it... This is our youngest so far, she was very close to becoming someones "choice", she is now the very apple of my eye. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24: 15
Fair play to you, but what you do is your choice .. that choice should be for everyone not just some.
Wow, that's rough. Just out of curiosity do you get some government aid to help pay for all your children or do you and your wife pay for it all yourselves through your work/careers?
Say what you will about women choosing abortion after rape Sam, but what's done is done. My mother aborted her pregnancy by rape, she went on to LIVE her life and then to have my brothers and I. It is very possible that had she not had the experiences she did we would not exist now and she more than likely would have succeeded in killing herself. If you want to condemn her for going through the difficult things she did as a 14 year old girl then so be it. I love my mom more than anything and I am so proud and amazed at her ability to overcome so many of the horrible things that happened to her in her life, including dealing with the physical and violent abuse from my father and escaping him thereafter.
First and foremost, you cannot punish what cannot think or feel, that is simply impossible. Second of all, I ask you the same question, why do you think that my mother should have been punished for the crimes of her assailant?
I think forcing a woman to gestate and give birth to her rapist's baby is worse than the original rape.
