Unless you're talking about Catholics, then I'm not aware of any group which believes that "contraception is immoral"

Truth be told, unplanned pregnancy is usually a consequence of having unprotected sex (which is irresponsible)

You need to read up on Bill Gothard followers. Also the "Quiverfull" movement.

Birth control fails, even sterilization fails.

That's because people use it irresponsibly. If people used birth control responsibly, there would be a significant reduction in abortions.

Abortion is a form of birth control. What you mean is contraception.

Are you ok with the pill even though it may work through preventing implantation of a ferilized egg?

I'm only against contraception if it kills a fertilized egg.

If it prevents implantation then the fertilized egg will not survive.

Granted, some people are not diligent in their use of birth control, and if ALL people used it perfectly, there would be a reduction in abortion. Now tell me, what other actions do people do perfectly?

But back to the subject, BIRTH CONTROL FAILS. Regardless of perfect use, some women will get pregnant anyway, actually, a lot of them. If a birth control method is 98% effective, that means 2 women out of every 100 get pregnant in each year. So out of that same 100 women, after 10 years, 20 women have had unplanned pregnancies. That's a lot. Now if you believe all unplanned pregnancies are a result of carelessness or less than perfect use, please consider the women who have been sterilized, or whose SOs have been sterilized, but they still have unexpected pregnancies. The same with IUDs, which I believe have an effectiveness of about 98%. Women cannot be at fault for the failures associated with those methods of birth control.

with up to 70% of fertilised eggs not implanting in the normal course of events - why would raising that percentage be a problem??

Contraception DOES reduce the abortion rate - what keeps it up is ignorance of FAILURE of contraception.

Like the numerous posters on this forum who thought condoms prevented pregnancy 100% of the time

Of course they can be at fault, they shouldn't be having sex. It's their own damn fault for spreading their legs (sarcasm)
