I was curious as to the reasonings everyone here seems to have as to why this committee doesn’t subpoena Trump to testify
would he honor it? there is an open invitation to testify. if the former president is so eager to clear himself why does he need a subpoena?
Probably because it's not really a trial. Supposedly they might, maybe, if the wind blows right, possibly refer whatever crock of **** they've concocted for prosecution. In a real court. With real rules of evidence. And cross examination of witnesses. And stuff like that. But unfortunately, they haven't really made a court-worthy case yet. And there's absolutely no reason for Trump to participate in a kangaroo court until there is a formal indictment to respond to.
The point though is that this is not a prosecution of Trump. It is an investigation into what happened that day. It has been telling that the huge majority of witnesses who hav come forward were once ardent Trump supporters Bannon could have testified and he was invited to wasn’t he? Bannon COULD have taken Trumps side and countered what other witnesses were saying But Bannon refused and that got him jail time. Still does not stop Trump from testifying. Thing is Trump is such a notorious liar that it is best to have all the evidence laid out in front first. I says something that these people will not talk under oath
That's a good question. I mean, this whole kangaroo court is about Trump. He would be witness number one I would think. Also it gives the opportunity to see if they can get him to lie before the committee and then jail him for that.
For one to CLEAR themselves, a CRIME needs to have been committed. no crime was committed by Donald Trump here
