I am 100% in favor of getting out of your way with the main caveat of you not changing anything about my modern way of life or making it cost more money for me to enjoy the comforts of my modern way of life. If you can figure out a way to heat my house in winter without me having to burn heating oil or natural gas and it won't cost me any more money then I am 100% on board. If you can figure out a way to produce ribeye steaks from an actual cow that I enjoy eating and it won't cost me any more money then I'm all for it. No I don't want your lab grown steaks or plant subsidized alternative, I want a real steak from a real living cow that ate real grass. And I want it for a price I'm willing to pay.

I don't want to ration my water in the shower, I want a high flow high pressure shower that produces a lot of water.
I don't want to drive an electric truck
I don't want to share my commute to work with a bunch of other people on a railway
I don't want to eat soy food

Upgrade my way of life for more proficiency. I don't mind change, I mind sacrifice. Like you said, kerosene to LED's, great! Do that for everything in my modern comfortable way of life and don't raise my taxes or charge me more money or make me sacrifice anything and you will 100% have my vote of support. The question is, can you actually do that?

Sure. You used Sagan as a source. I have no problem with that. Mamooth does.

No conspiracy. Sagan was just wrong because he and those he was citing didn’t have a correct understanding of forcing.

Doesn’t make him bad or an idiot. He did what scientists should and accepted new information and discarded his incorrect previous conclusions. Golem can’t accept that Sagan was incorrect. Mamooth thinks Sagan was irrelevant because he was only an astrophysicist that specialized in planetary greenhouse effects.

I’m giving credit where it’s due. Your position on Sagan is (MUCH) more rational than the two extremes you are sandwiched between.

Yes it would be real hard to prove because no one even on this forum tells us that men can actually be women....

Folks eating more steak and less carbs would not only solve a lot of environmental problems, it would solve our health crisis as well.

Large ruminants eating grass and other forage are the best soil carbon management devices known to man. All provided by Mother Nature.

Not sure how old you are, but at my age is has become same BS just a new decade. And yes, hypocrisy and money has been the driving factor not actual climate abnormalities..

And that's the way that you can guarantee that over-enthusiastic climate change believers are simply wrong. If they were right, they'd gladly welcome fair debate and not simply force compliance with their very sketchy beliefs through a general scheme of outright lying and manipulating government laws and systems to force action with no actual debate.

It's been happening here in the US for at least 40 years. "Passing" laws with no debate and not even allowing any other voices to be heard.

My suggestion is to resist the urge to get distracted in scientific minutae and simply point to their nasty habit of altering laws in their favor without any open debate whatsoever.

Drop the scientific and focus on the political where us normal folk are already well behind the eight ball.

Just for fun and educational purposes let’s look at why Sagan was wrong in 1985.

Let’s start off with his own words.

So, in 1985 atmospheric CO2 was at 345.5 ppm. It was increasing at an annual rate of 1.12 ppm/year. So by 2100 according to the metrics imposed by Sagan, by 2100 atmospheric CO2 would be at 474 ppm.

That means his prediction was that in 2100 (or possibly as early as 2050), atmospheric CO2 would be at 474 ppm and temps would be “several” degrees C higher.

The IPCC has an (SSP) 8.5 scenario. Essentially this scenario assumes an increase in emissions through the year 2100. Remember Sagan was assuming no increases in emissions after 1985. The (SSP) 8.5 predicts atmospheric CO2 to be in the 1000-1200 ppm range by the year 2100. This would mean there would have to be an annual rate of CO2 increase of 7.4 ppm/year over the period 1985 to 2100. And what does the IPCC predict for increase in temperature at 1000-1200 ppm atmospheric CO2? Well, 4.4°C.

So either the IPCC has it wrong or Sagan had it wrong. Based on climatology today there is no way temps can be several degrees C higher by 2100 if emissions stayed at 1985 levels and a 1.12 ppm/year increase was maintained as Sagan said. The IPCC says only 4.4°C is possible with a 7.4 ppm/year annual increase that would put us at 1200 ppm by 2100.

Hope that helps clear things up a bit for those not familiar with the details.

It's been too many years since I've killed a feral hog. Going to get me a 45 lb draw recurve bow and start practicing archery again.

I have seen several roadkill deer in my neighborhood since the weather turned cool. Some of them need to be culled

    Simple point is you lost.

The best way to tell if there's any legitimacy to this is look at financial investment.

If ocean levels were rising and the people who believed in this crap really did believe in it they wouldn't buy houses by the ocean no insurance company would insure them no investment company would invest in them.

So it's bullshit and nobody believes it.

I suspect that's why it cuts exactly on partisan lines.
