you could argue china is another now, but really thats only economically for the time being, and also one of the answers would be that you won the cold war so russia isnt a superpower anymore anyway, well the break-up of the ussr meant that really, but what I really mean is economically. I once had an argument with an american conservative he believes its cause you work harder, personally I think its more to do with natural resources, large and flexible workforce, timing, and most of all the marshall plan. america was the only country to make money out of ww2, everyone else had their economy decimated manufacturing base literally bombed into the ground and spent decades rebuilding whereas the usa didnt have to do any of that as there was no fighting on its territory. anyway so what do you think ?
capitalism is les chocked here the idea still exsits that someone can earn money faily by achievement and the world is not connections, which demotivates we also have no history of genetic rulers
Granny says China gainin' on us as Washin'ton politicians squabble over fiscal cliff... U.S. losing its sway as the sole superpower December 10th, 2012 - The United States is likely to remain the leading world power in 2030 but won't hold the kind of sway it did in the past century, according to a new study by the U.S. intelligence community.
Can Canada and USA be unified into One Country? Canada and the USA are two big countries adjacent to each other in North America. There are many similarities between Canada and the USA. Both countries have the same colonial history. Both countries have the same culture and language. Both countries have the same political system and economic system. Both countries have the same developed and industrialized economy. Both countries have the same lifestyle. Both countries are nations composed of descendants of immigrants. Since there are so many similarities between Canada and the USA, the two countries are adjacent in geography and are so integrated in economy, is it possible for Canada and the USA to be unified into one country? The idea of unification sounds crazy and unrealistic. Well, a book has been published to explore the possibility of unification between Canada and the USA. Book title is “REDRAWING WORLD MAP”. Book subtitle is “EXPLORATION OF UNIFICATION BETWEEN COUNTRIES”. In addition to unification between Canada and the USA, this book also explores unification between Mexico and its two small southern neighbors, unification between Chile and Argentina, unification between France and the two tiny states along its southern border, unification between South Africa and Lesotho, and unification between a few pairs of other small countries. This book is published by a publishing house called PublishAmerica. Search title “REDRAWING WORLD MAP” in Barnes and Noble, Amazon, PublishAmerica, Google, we can find this book. It may have been a lack of Faith in Capitalism to engage the former Soviet Union in an industrial automation Race instead of an Arms Race.
Granny says, "Mebbe `cause dem Chinamens... ... ain't caught up to us yet... ... (but don't look behind ya... ... `cause dey's gainin' on us.)
The advantageous geographical location- US was never any strong and hostile neighbor + strong domestic & foreign politics, good legal system and may be so-called protestant ethics made it possible for America to become the superpower. And yes US got benefit from 2 global slaughters (WWI WWII) as well.
its lucky theyve been such a nice and benign one then so they will be well treated when they are just another country and chinas biatch
Granny says, "An' `cause dem Washin'ton politicians an' dey's Wall St. banker buddies... ... ain't managed to totally muck things up - yet."
Why is the U.S. the only superpower? Easy to answer and it's basically 90% geography and 10% capitalism. No other nation has: 1. Essentially 3 coasts lined with ice-free ports year-round. Each using an ocean or gulf. 2. A central "bread basket" positioned between mountains and massive southern flowing river system. 3. A river system (Mississippi) that can transport goods south from 80% of the country. 4. Temperate location allowing for long growing season. 5. Abundance of natural resources that can be easily transported via the Mississippi south or via the Great Lakes north and east to the Atlantic. 6. Well regulated market system. You can have all of the capitalism you'd like but with a bad geographic location, forget it... commerce doesn't happen. Before you attempt to question the above, consider removing any one of the geographic pluses. Try it.
So we could learn how easy it is to turn massive federal surpluses into massive federal deficits, that primarily benefit the wealthiest.
The USA not only has good geographical location, but also is very large. The USA is among the top six largest countries in the world. These top six largest countries are Canada, the USA, Brazil in the western hemisphere, and, Russia, China, Australia in the eastern hemisphere.
While China is now beating us economically we're still number two and well... no one beats America in the war business. I don't have any proof but I am sure when Great Britain was a super power, during the 1700s the Dutch may have beaten economically but that would later be ratified by Great Britain making all of its colonies trade with Great Britain first. The thing is that they too could war like no one else and thus were a super power of their day. But that doesn't mean that France, Prussia, Holland, or Spain weren't contenders of power. So I think it comes down to which country can annihilate their rivals.
