in other words you cannot answer. It is a simply question, with only using scientific reasoning explain why human life is special (BTW scientific includes "soft" sciences) The answer to me is obvious, human life has only as much value as another places upon it, and scientifically is not special at all.
A question with no logical answer is not necessarily an inability to answer the question, it is the unwillingness to participate in foolishness.
so the question, why is human life so special, doesn't have a logical answer then .. must remember to tell all the pro-lifers who use such a statement as human life is special that it isn't a logical argument according to you.
You are confused. You wanted a scientific answer, not a logical answer. Answering your question is illogical.
and you are saying there is not a scientific answer to the question .. there is if you use "soft" sciences.
So, you are saying, that he has an equal say? That being the case, if he opted for an abortion, he would be absolved from all responsibility. I agree with you, and commend your level headedness. To hold someone to responsibility, without choice, would be no better than any other dark ages power play.
this is a good quote on the subject imo "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin it's special because it's one step on the spiral of life as our spirits grow .
Are you saying that he dosen`t have an equal, or more than equal participation in the pregnancy? After all, he usually does the most work.
So is it fair to say that pro-choicers don't see human life as anymore special then a dogs? Or a fish? Or cattle?
Honestly if you told me my neighbor died whether by natural causes or some horrific murder I wouldn't care very much unless I knew that neighbor personally. Can you really say you care and cry every single night about all the people suffering and dying around the world? Because there are plenty of them. I only care about those closest to me, people I have made a connection with. Because of our interest in living and our interest in maintaining the lives of those closest to us we have created a society that treats life as 'precious', but that view only extends so far because we still have war, violent crimes, and many people just do not care about those who are not close to them or who they know nothing about. To what extent do you expect us to treat human beings as precious and sacred? When do you withdraw that view and at what point do you stop caring about everyone in the world suffering/dying?
An emotional bond with a particular human life is not the same thing as deeming human life as special. The question is--- would you save a stranger whom you had no bond with if you had to sacrifice your beloved dog to do it. When it comes to the unborn---it has nothing to do with an emotional bond---and rarely there is one at the early stages. It comes down to how much you value human life. People know its a life and individual. Other things are simply more important then a human life when abortion is the option.. But even on the adult issues---do we sacrifice fire fighters to save a fish? Which is what happened in California by the way when water from a near water source was not used because it harbered salmon. People died for salmon that day. Or do we give animals the same rights as people, outlaw animal slaughter and regulate acceptable diets as only vegetarian? Even if this isn't the most beneficial option for some or most people?
Is this analogy supposed to fit with pregnancy somehow? The person in danger is the fetus and the beloved dog is the woman's body? Is that right or am I seeing this analogy wrong? I just want to make sure before I declare how messed up it is to demean a woman's body as nothing more than a dog. I don't think any human's life is worth more than the right for someone to defend their autonomy from them. That's interesting, is this another analogy to pregnancy? Comparing women's bodies and their right to autonomy to salmon? Has anyone here declared that we all go vegan for animal rights? I think you may be in the wrong forum.
I'm really not focusing on abortion---I'm focusing on the original op which asks if Human Life is special. And I believe within the question was----is human life more special then any other species.
I`ll send you my photo album. Might be a bit fuzzy. Those old box brownies didn`t take very clear photos.
yes, this is true, based on my personal experiences, this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less I believe the light you see when you die is the doorway to rebirth and that it attracts you like a moth to a flame to end the cycle of life and rebirth, you merely need to avoid going into the light, to do this you need to learn to control your racing mind .
We could learn a lot from crayons: Not all of the colors inside are the ones we are looking for to make our pretty picture. But they exist in the box. And when you throw one of those unwanted crayons away, chances are that someday you will be working on another picture and realize you shouldn't have thrown away that odd colored crayon after all. There was a reason why the box came with the crayons it did. http://www.usedcrayons.com/about-being-used/
After my answer now a question: How do you call in the english language [natural] science of [spiritual] values? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR8_n-B8qu0
