Sure, however, I don't remember having a failure with Remington 870s and the ones I bought used, Police Department markings, looked new internally, oftentimes, the stocks and forearm looked like K-9 Doggies had used them as chew toys.
That you don't seem to be taking away anything edifying from this discussion, might I venture that you are here only to take trophies?
But, then there are other option.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4231528/Pet-squirrel-goes-nuts-burglar-robbed-home.html Meet Joey on duty Likely a conservative
Mine are Anatolians, difficult to train, but intelligent like German Shepherds. Less of chance with accidental bites and can be trained to be very quiet.
I have replaced springs and clean a few tubes, one that had a shot glass of sand in it.... spring was ok. I only charged a $1.00 stupidity fee.
Then You would have loved the Remington 870 I bought years ago, Florida P.D. markings and I could only get 2 cartridges to load, otherwise good condition, the stock looked like it was a chew toy for K-9 Dogs. I disassembled the magazine tube and found a stout old cobweb covered stick !!! I finished cleaning the shotgun and it was perfect, I bought a used OEM stock and forearm at a gun show and frankly, it needed nothing else, it was in great shape for a used Patrol shotgun.
I'm about ready to convert from pump action to semi-auto's with the Versa Max and FN being top choices. I think the reliability is now there. They do cost you, however.
Yup the "plug" is just a dowel. Detail strip the magazine tube and take it out. Up's your mag capacity. But remember to put it back in if you ever go hunting for birds in a field. Game wardens take DFG/DFW rules seriously.
My semiautomatic shotgun has an extended bolt handle. It clears like a pump. For 3 gun, semi's are de rigeur except for some niche classes.
I don't think so anymore. What you can do with a Versa Max, the FN and the other tactical semi-auto's and low recoil buckshot, you can't do with a pump.
They have the power to come onto your property. They safeguard the game. The game belongs to the State not to the land owner.
I own a Winchester Mod 1300 Defender with a 18" cylinder barrel. Since the Winchester Mod 1300 is a break down shotgun and you can remove and replace the barrel in less than a minute, I also have two other barrels for the Mod. 1300. 22" rifled barrel with open rifle iron sights for slugs for big game hunting. 28" barrel with the Winchoke with full choke and modified chokes for birds and other little critters and even clay's. If I use the Mod 1300 for hunting it takes a few minutes to get legal by inserting a wood dowel that I bought at Home Depot and cut to length into the tube magazine. But the main purpose of my Mod 1300 is defense so it always close by with the 18" cylinder barrel, a couple boxes of 00 Buck, a box of slugs and a box of non lethal Bouncers.
My Mossberg has interchangeable barrels too. This is nice. Ironically however I have never shot a bird with a shotgun. All the birds (grouse, quail, etc.) I ever shot were shot with my 22LR Colt Woodsman pistol while I was on backpack trips in the mountains.
In San Dorinde, I shoot as much game as I can cook and eat, which is not much, and nobody says BOO ! to Me......
Get yourselves" the Judge" shotgun 410/45 pistol. Great for home defense. Dependable 5 round cylinder and almost impossible to jam.
Tests have demonstrated that the shotgun ammunition designed for the Judge revolver does not meet FBI minimum standards of performance regarding either depth of penetration, or degree of expansion.
, Works for this old gun dealer. All my wife has to do is aim at the door of the bedroom 10 feet away. Unlikely to kill with the first two shots but will disable even if they have body armor on. It will still hit their face and eyes. First two rounds of #6 shot, then 2 hydroshock 45s, and one 00 buck in that order. Plus 2 mastiffs over 125 LBS first. She carries it with her to the barn, around the farm and on the front seat or in her hidden carry pouch. It only has a 2" barrel. At 5 ', it will cut you in half with the #6s When my daughter shot and killed an attempted robber in her bar in the early 90's, she had just a little 38 with a 2" barrel at about 5 feet. Now she also carries the "Judge". Bad ass group weapon too.
You have to keep them clean and well regulated. I'll bet I have put 500 rounds though mine and it NEVER has jammed.
