Why not mandate trigger locks and locked gun cases?

Knock of the insults. It adds nothing to your argument.

We live in the country. We have no close neighbors. Law enforcement is at least 15 minutes away. More likely a lot more than that. We have numerous people passing by our isolated house on the way to a popular recreation area on a river. There is a frequently drugs and drinking We get strangers knocking on our door asking for our help. When we answer, which we always do, we do not know who is on the other side of the door or their intentions. Having personal weapon protection allows us to live in a rural area which we love. You would take that away because some other nuts can't behave.

Why do you think it’s ok to take guns away from millions of law-abiding citizens? I enjoy target shooting, something I used to do with my dad. Since his passing target shooting is a nostalgic thing for me and my brother. My gun will never harm a human being so why should I not be able to keep it?

Pools should come with lids that prevent unauthorized use by minors. Any pool found not in use uncovered should be a 5 year prison sentence. All unattended dogs should wear muzzles when not being fed. Motorcycles should be outlawed. All cars should be limited to 1500 lbs unless the owner wants to pay extra for the high capacity vehicle license after justifying the need for the purchase and completing a background check. Any fatality caused by the high capacity vehicle results in mandatory loss of high capacity vehicle driver's license and seizure of their high capacity vehicle on top of any possible criminal charges All items in this post will have mandatory insurance. I'm sure they will think of more future laws.

Who is suggesting you shouldn't have a personal weapon in the house? I don't think the OP is requiring you to keep the safe locked up when you are home and in control of them.

And you should look into those Ring doorbells with the cameras and microphones.

Did you read what I was responding to?
We tried one of cameras. The sun tended to block the view. We keep our storm door locked. The handle on the storm door is opposite the handle of the main door so that we can immediately close the main door, if needed. However, that arrangement would not stop someone from trying to knock our door down or otherwise try to get into the house. Thus we keep weapons.

We are perfectly happy with the arrangement and our weapons are of no danger to anyone else. So they should not bother anyone else.

Get a tv doorbell and a good lock in a steel door, (both together are probably cheaper than most guns), get a recording of a big dog barking or get a big dog. Having a gun does nothing more than put you at risk for a home invasion to get the gun, as any person who knocks is either legitimate or is not afraid of your gun. Stats on this are very clear, YOU and your family are for more endangered by the gun than anybody

Well it should be common sense if you have small or adolescence children, as for the silly jail time, well you better build more prisons and ramp of welfare because you are going to create a lot of parentless children :)

You were, for once skating on logical ice, but as normal you skated to close to absurdity and fell thru to quagmire ;)

People who aren’t afraid of guns only exist in movies.

Well that sounds more like a prison or if a dog barking then gulag! So what are we to do with the windows? I know in some Parts Of San Jose, ghettos, they prefer bars and for some it even makes them feel at home away from home ;)

That statement is so ignorant of the facts that it is hard figure out where to start.

We tried the TV. For several hours late in the day it looks straight the sun and was worthless. We have a good storm door and good locks on a steel door. However, that would not prevent them from trying to pound the door down or try to get in through a window.

There have been a few break ins in our area, but none for the specific purpose to get weapons that I know of. However, some residents have been attacked by the intruders. Since, there is a reasonable chance the person is either drunk or high on drugs, there is no way know their intentions prior to opening the door.

The stats are worthless unless you have compiled some specific to our location and circumstances.

Carrying a loaded firearm to answer the front door doesn't sound like a prison?

When stolen cars start being used by people to drive in to schools in an attempt to murder students get back to me. Right now we are talking about guns.

And like I said, you can keep your weapons. Just lock them up when you leave the house, no?

Edit: the tv doorbell was just a suggestion. I have windows on top of my doors and I can also look out a few windows if someone knocks.

Because rights have turned into privileges, and privileges can be taken away. There has to be a "line in the sand". The government if FORBIDDEN to control arms in any way. If they want to change the constitution, our rule book, AMEND IT. The supreme court and lower courts do NOT have the legal power to change it. How do you think we ended slavery, with the 13th amendment. We can amend what we don't like. You have a roadmap to change it. Don't tell me what I can do in my own "castle".

I see a "subject" is trying to tell "citizens" what to do. I don't care if people want my guns, I am one of those "from my dead hand" people. History shows people like you want to remove the rights from 320 million people, but will slaughter an unborn baby 17 years before with abortion/infanticide. Lets be real, you don't care about human life.

You are just a victim of the liberal media. What will happen is a civil war in America, and millions will die, not of gun shots, but starvation and disease if we have a second civil war. Guns were dangerous to the British soldiers at the shot heard round the world was fired from ARMED CITIZENS.

And if they steal your money, and buy drugs and OD, you also get 5 years in jail??? The gun doesn't kill, it is the nut behind it.

The price of freedom does have a cost. I don't think that you strip 320 million people because 0.000000003% of the population is crazy! Sorry, the math is just not there. You are extremist. First it is against our rule book called the constitution, and second, it will have little effect. It is a media money maker for the 24/7 interest in less than a penny's worth of danger.

It is like blaming the NRA when they did NOT write the constitution, the venom should be spit at our founder fathers. THEY wrote and approved the constitution.
You do have a way, amend the constitution!!! But as long as the population over 50 are alive, your chances are slim and none.
