Whats all the recent hate for Iowa about? Why the call for moving Iowa caucus from 1st place, or suggest that Iowa opinion is not relevant.? Are Republicans afraid?

What? Iowa farmers not sure about Gingrich? ^

Well first of all we hate Iowa because my (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)y younger sister lives there. After that I think it has to do with endless drives through nothingness to get to a city that really lacks anything that I would want to do. If I must continue, all the big towns have stupid names and there is no major sport that has a team there.

Plus they have like what - 3 electoral votes and they have a huge say in who gets elected. I thought you democrats/marxist/liberals would hate them because of such a small minority population, unless you count the illegals that work for slave wages.

Nobody realy hates Iowa, they just see it as a place where white people help out their own kind to get ahead and distance themselves from people not white. But that is the culture and the psychology of how America is. It's almost genetic. Also, the electoral college is where the real presidential selection is made. Not with the general public. If anything people are mad that their votes mean notheing if the electoral college does not agree, and elects the president they feel is right for thier own special intrest.

America must be a sick society. Not only are politics grossly polarised but it seems there is hate between the states.

A nation divided by hate and political leanings.

For what practical reason should Iowa and New Hampshire get to have such an enormous say in terms of the presidential nominee of the political parties? It makes the electoral college look positively democratic.

    Because Iowa really sucks.:)
It doesn't really matter anymore with modern electronics and the 24 hr. media.
A state that small with 99 counties ?
That means they have more say than most people .
I grew up in San Diego where that county is probably as large as IOWA is.

IOWA really likes control over the small details..or why in the world would every state section be its own county ?

They need the be 1st agenda for 1 thing and 1 thing only. MONEY.
They have no pro teams...even the MN Gophers beat their college football team..and ever fly into their International airport ?
Without this huge MONEY bonanza IOWA would really suffer.
Ever wonder why they like 150 candidates and 127 debates in IOWA ?
Ever wonder why Its the only place where the RELIGION VOICE is ever heard.
    Religion and ethanol...and smaller Government..

Religion can be used like the last election cycle to block someone from a good start..Romney finished 4th..and was thought to be the worst person running.Seems like IOWA was very wrong as they are most of the time.

And No the democrats dont do IOWA like Republicans do.. have multiple debates..town halls and church speaking engagements.

This IOWA process helped and hurt.
It vetted out Cain..and several other flavors of the month..
It hurt because it doesn't like the national choice that most centralist Republicans Poll as wanting..ROMNEY.
So IOWA held closed door meetings..some demean their leading News paper endorsement as NOTHING..since it didn't pick who they wanted..
Getting any endorsement in IOWA for ROMNEY is a challenge and a plus.
The fact the hottest flavor and Paul didn't get it should speak loud to most..

They are not bad candidates... Romney is simply better .

Iowa as the lead in politics ?
    Over Ohio..Florida..Minnesota..or Pennsylvania ?
Theses states are all more diverse..more important ..have many of the same problems as the country faces.More importantly they have more people than corn..You could NOT FOOL a diverse electorate start like you can in IOWA. ( do the caucuses even count ? )

Look, Iowa is one of only about a half dozen states that I haven't visited, and I don't see myself ever visiting that state--even if I could find it, but being the loving person that you all know me to be, I think using the 'hate' word to describe that 17th century vacuous state to be a bit demeaning. :omg:

It's not that Iowa is a bad place. It's just overly represented by the current primary system.

No state should ever perennially have the first round of primaries, because that gives it too much influence.

The primary system itself was devised at a time when the population was much smaller and transportation/communication was more limited in speed and scope.

In the modern age, it's rather antiquated and should be randomized to give a more balanced perception of what the general electorate actually wants in a candidate.

What's most popular in Iowa is not relevant to what's most popular in Texas, for example.

You're mistaking rivalry for hate. The vitriol between states is more about competition, like with our college or pro sports.

There's far more actual hate between the parties.

This is true. The meida in the USA is very manipulative and the people, most are simple minded, realy buy into the propaganda the media throws at them. In addition, the two party system in the USA has come to heads with eachother, and they use the media to keep their base supporting them and hating the other. That is why there is a significan divide in the USA. Also, throw in the mix of immigants and minorities. And you have a very toxic mix of hatred.

We like to think that, but when it comes to money, it can get brutal. The conflict between States results in the greedy money grubbers comming out of the earth to come up with some cutt throat ways to compete. Some even change the policies and rules of the game in their favor.

When things get desperate, they turn to hating on groups of people. Just look at all the religious banter and the frustration towards hispanics.

This is no different than any other country. Only difference is our media and politics want the country to be divided, so they can eaisly gain support from one of them.

Here is a better question: What exactly is so (*)(*)(*)(*) special about Iowa?

Why does everyone care what they think? I dont hate them, I just dont think they deserve so much attention and focus.

Well, Lizard might have a point, originally from Missouri I notice Kansas still hates us. Apparently there is some "rule" against riding into Lawrence, killing all the men and burning the town down. Shows up a lot in college sports. I've always thought if God were going to give the world an enema, he'd stick the tube in Iowa, a forsaken land of endless miles of nothingness punctuated by boring hamlets inhabited by a people crazed by their own aloneness. Come to think of it, Neb., KS, and SD are much the same. Hope I didn't offend anyone.

Because a third of the country lives there. How many people are in Iowa?

Iowa is like this hick backwater that is in the spotlight for some reason. Even Colorado deserves it more than Iowa.

You guys are missing part of the equation .
IOWA is corn..ethanol.. ethanol production..shipping ...sales.
When corn is used in this matter all YOUR prices went up on basic food.. because Corn is a basic block of the production cycle.

I'd love for Paul to advertise he is FOR killing the ethanol subsidies. Tell Iowa straight up like 30 % of their money is POOF over night.
I wonder how many votes he might get from them then.
But he speaks in broad terms about limited government and fools them into thinking he is limiting others entitlements ..not theirs.
Romney says let the free market work..and that scares IOWA to death..no more high corn prices and record profits.
Letting the free market work and not picking winners and losers is The Conservative way.
    the Republican way.

I'm pretty sure that the Iowa caucus is the reason we still have ethanol subsidies even though no one still thinks they are worthwhile.

If you listen to Iowa radio, they don't even care. They just want to know which candidate will keep corn prices high.

Ahh the wonders of government money.

This has nothing to do with just republicans or just democrats as both hold their first primary(caucus in Iowa's case) there.

They have a HUGE influence on who is going to be on the ticket and it's a state nobody really cares about. It's a state full of corn fields. Why not have a state with a large number of electoral votes start the voting?
