So today Obama signed yet another EO, this time trying to strengthen gun control laws and close loopholes - especially on internet sales and gun show sales. However, this "new requirement" for background checks already exists on the books. Every gun sale requires a background check period. For example, with internet sales. A website selling guns is prohibited from shipping a gun straight to the home of the buyer. Instead, they are required to send that gun to a federally licensed gun dealer, where the buyer can pick the weapon up. However, before being to get that gun, the licensed dealer has to conduct the background check. So, what's the point here? Why force a law on America that already exists?

Another little sidenote to this EO, it is also stating that doctors will be required to report mental health conditions to the background database - which is a huge HIPPA violation - in order to prevent someone with any mental issue to be prevented from buying a gun, as well as their family members. In order to bypass the HIPPA issues, the Department of Health and Human Services is issuing an edict, that will allow the sharing of private medical information for gun background checks only . So this gives the government access to your private health information. The reasoning behind this, according to Obama, is that it is meant to prevent suicides. If we follow that rabbit hole then we should also be banning knives, sleeping medications, rope, cords, bridges and cars. Ridiculous? Yes. But the point is, at point will the government stop trying to tell us what is best for us? Thoughts on that? Personally, I don't want anyone besides me and my doctor knowing anything about my health, physical mental or otherwise. It is NOT the governments business to know what is going on inside my body.

    It's what liberals do.

If one law is good, two laws for the same thing are better.

In fact, they tend to judge success based on how many they regurgitate.

You have talked to extreme leftists before right? You will find... not just a lack of common sense and rationality, but pretty much none at all. Now the mental illness thing..... There are some people that just shouldn't own a firearm, my brother in-law is one of them. He's mentally unstable, a schizophrenic to the T, and not a nice one. He has managed to not get charges brought upon him for a number of assaults because his dumb ass parents (I don't like my in-laws) talk everyone out of pressing charges because of his mental condition. He can however walk into any shop that is dumb enough to sell to him, and buy a firearm. Luckily, he is a raging Liberal and can't stand firearms. The point is, he CAN go buy one right now and might use it in his next tantrum. So... maybe the mental illness thing should be a thing. I'm still on the fence.
