Most people in the United States agree that we should stay out of Syria. However, I'm afraid that this conflict will eventually become a huge war that nobody will able to contain. Instead of thousands dying, we could be looking at MILLIONS including many innocent civilians. While Assad does seem to be fighting off many of the rebels, I can assure you that there are TENS OF MILLIONS of potential recruits who are simply watching from the sidelines. If things get bad enough they'll join along in the fight. I believe as time goes on things will get worse and worse. This might even spill into Pakistan. Just imagine if a bunch of terrorists were to take control of a nuclear country like Pakistan. Do you think this conflict will become a World War? And if so, do you think we should intervene now or when it gets much worse?

It could escalate into a huge regional war with Iran and Israel's involvement but both countries have largely stayed out of the conflict so far and only Lebanon has intervened by sending Hezbollah fighters to Syria. The EU has lifted the Syrian arms embargo and the West could supply arms to the Free Syrian Army to allow it to stay in the fight and there are signs that the Assad regime gained the upper hand armed with advanced Russian weapons. David Cameron said no decision had been taken on the supply of arms and said that the UK would only go down such a route in conjunction with allies and if clear safeguards were put in place.

I don't think it will. At the most, it could become another expensive occupation for us, but it won't be a world war.

No, it won't turn into a world war. However, it has already turned into a sectarian regional war that will probably grow in intensity as more combatants and arms enter the conflict.

Are there any prerequisites for it? I guess, not.

No, it will not become a world war. It's just third world people squabbling about something, the big powers care not.

It's quite simple; Pakistan would cease to exist.

No, we should pre-emptively destroy the missiles in Pakistan.

It is doubtful this conflict will be allowed to draw in the Big Boys to the point of direct conflict between them....quite simply China, Russia, and the U.S do not care enough to risk something at that level. Though Pakistani nukes are worrisome, and the worst of the Terrorist groups might consider using stolen bombs, they are unlikely to get one over here, and not stupid enough to use it on Russia.

The US is too strong militarily for more colonial invasions to create world war - just more general hatred and contempt, I suppose.

We should break out a few hundred neutron bombs that we were not supposed to be producing, and preemptively destroy Syria, Iran, Pakistan, and North Korea for the sake of humanity.
