Haven't been to the religion and philosphy section for awhile, but who thinks that all religions are the same?
Please show me where the White House (I assume that is what W.H. means) sees Sharia as a viable law for Americans? I would think that the First Amendment would keep the U.S. from becoming an Islamic theocracy, after all, it keeps the U.S. from becoming a Christian theocracy.
They are all the same in regards to their surrender of logic and reason to fear and superstition. Islam being currently the most vile and the most dangerous. Wasn't always the case though, in 1930s I'd of said it was the Catholic Church given its open support of fascism.
To a degree, the people who came up with that bumper sticker believe it is. We should all coexist because deep down each is a different pathway to the same god - or somesuch philosophy. Some religions believe that more than others. - - - Updated - - - The 1930's? Heck, I'd go back further to the fourteenth century (give or take) for some real despotic behavior from the Church.
If our planet put half as much effort into science as we do worshipping imaginary things floating in the sky we probably would have free energy by now, world peace and multiple choice cures for cancer. As humans we should be embarrassed that in 2015 cavemen still walk among us.
Oh come on. If we weren't so obsessed with sex, we would have interstellar space travel. If we didn't get distracted by television all the time, we would have cured all diseases. And so on... and so on... face it, we humans are easily distracted. Hell, both of us are sitting here debating on an Internet forum instead of trying to improve our world.
No amount of television will bring me to believe in imaginary things nor behead children in the name of said imaginary thing. These cavemen draw our dollars from things we should be doing into things that we shouldnt have to in 2015 like protecting children from being beheaded in the name of skygod. Cavemen with guns and they are winning.
To me, it makes sense to examine how we got here, why we are here, and where we might be going. Don't need priests, ministers, rabbis or mullahs to help us with that. They are ALL just opportunists.
The problems of the world stem from people demonizing groups they don't like in order to make them less than human. Slavery, genocide, racism, homophobia, and misogyny all exist because of this. You behead children or bomb villages because they are not human in your eyes.
