I saw a crazy news story somewhere that Trump might actually come forth and admit he was r....r....r....r....r....r.....wrong! about the perfect Ukrainian call. So what if he does. Will America suffer a massive stroke? Will kids run screaming to their mothers for protection? Will expectant mothers miscarry? Will the Great Lakes dry up?
I dunno if he'll say he was 'wrong.' I think that denotes some sort of moral failure. What he did certainly was a mistake, imo. He should've sent one of our agencies to investigate corruption and got Ukraine to promise cooperation, instead of trying to get Ukraine to do it all. His circus, his monkeys. I manage two other people at my job. I've screwed up far worse than that.
I'm not sure if it's the same story, but I heard a similar one. But Trump wasn't exactly going to admit that he was wrong. It was more like what he said on the call was ... "not perfect". But then he would immediately blame it on The Three Amigos. Throw them under the bus, like he did Cohen, and save himself.
Sharpiegate showed the lengths he will go to to cover up even the slightest error. That was a classic time when he could have easily said “ooooops! Silly me! Made a slip up! And it would have been forgotten 30 seconds later instead he acts like a prime idiot and digs himself in so deep we nearly saying hi here in Aus
Trump will not and can not admit he was wrong about anything ever. He suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He is incapable of admitting fault. This is why he always doubles down on everything he gets wrong.
I read the transcript and see nothing wrong. So if Trump were to say the call was wrong I would say Trump is wrong. Right vs wrong, the transcript is out there for all to read and make up their own mind. It is not a secret but the dems and leftist act like it is a guarded secret and they will tell us how bad it is.
So..........perhaps the strategy is to go with contrition and ask people to overlook the self-interested illegal act? They're going to have to come up with something other than denial cuz the public testimony is going to be devastating.
If Trump admitted he left the white house with a shoelace untied, the left would make a criminal case out of it. So, why fuel the hate machine? The left is that desperate, and it's truly pitiful.
Hate? From my sea level perch all I have observed is one group that just let the facts come them and another one that angrily denies those facts. We will see that demonstrated today. Have some "Liberals," i.e. anyone that question Rush Limbaugh, FOX and Breitbart as news, gone off the rails? No argument. However, Trump fans like standing in a hurricane telling everyone it's a bright sunny day.
And the left- obviously your position of choice- thinks that gas-lighting the entire nation by claiming the opposite of everything is somehow altering the reality. It's not working. It's killed all credibility for them, except with the obsessed hate addicts. The left is not in the crapper because Trump put them there- they did and are doing it to themselves, everyday. We already know that when the current smear act ends, another will have already started. I have no idea how many rings their circus has, but none of the acts are any good. They just don't know that yet. I think when they lose the 2020 election to Trump again- they still won't know it.
Perhaps there are some who are desperate - those who called for his impeachment on day one - the never trumpers. But for a great many, it is about right and wrong, truth and lies. We see a person who no longer knows the truth from lies and one who doesn't care about the right way to do things. Someone who is ill equipped to lead the country. I respect your right to support him and believe him to be a good leader, so I ask that you not diminish my opinion to merely hate.
A rational person is of course entitled to opinion, and you have said that well. But any analysis of a situation requires a balanced assessment of all the relative information- truth being truth and recognized regardless of whom it benefits. That is the problem here; we see the balance being totally discarded by many people of power on the left, and that being mirrored by many followers. This forum shows that very clearly. I have no problem finding fault with some aspects of Trump, but I also include in my assessment the fact that he is not a politician in the normal sense- most of whom are every bit or more as flawed as Trump, but in standard political profile they present an image of a righteous nice-guy to the public, while bending all the rules behind closed doors. For example, I could argue that there is not a member of congress who does not violate his position everyday- and by that, I mean the Oath of Office, the government Employee Ethics guidelines. of the Fiduciary duty that they all have. Nobody gains positions in high government being nice guys- they are hard players pretending to be nice guys. Most of the public prefers a comfortable lie to an uncomfortable truth- they ask for and reward those who accommodate them. Trump isn't perfect, but by comparison to any alternatives- HR Clinton or the current crop- he is the runaway choice. He's just not wearing the facade people want to see; he is the pitbull- and he's our pitbull. For example- here is the Ethics code in the summarized fashion. See if you can think of anyone in congress who doesn't ignore this consistently... with allowing bias to excuse any of them and tip the scale. GOVERNMENT ETHICS RULES Fourteen Principles of Ethical Conduct for Federal Employees (Executive Order 12674) Public service is a public trust; employees must place loyalty to the Constitution, the laws, and ethical principles above private gain. Employees shall not hold financial interests that conflict with the conscientious performance of duty. Employees shall not engage in financial transactions using nonpublic Government information or allow the improper use of such information to further any private interest. Employee shall not, except as permitted by the Standards of Ethical Conduct, solicit or accept any gift or other item of monetary value from any person or entity seeking official action from, doing business with, or conducting activities regulated by the employee's agency, or whose interests may be substantially affected by the performance or nonperformance of the employee's duties. Employees shall put forth honest effort in the performance of their duties. Employees shall not knowingly make unauthorized commitments or promises of any kind purporting to bind the Government. Employees shall not use public office for private gain. Employees shall act impartially and not give preferential treatment to any private organization or individual. Employees shall protect and conserve Federal property and shall not use it for other than authorized activities. Employees shall not engage in outside employment or activities - including seeking or negotiating for employment - that conflict with official Government duties and responsibilities. Employees shall disclose waste, fraud, abuse, and corruption to appropriate authorities. Employees shall satisfy in good faith their obligations as citizens, including all financial obligations, especially those imposed by law, such as Federal, state, or local taxes. Employees shall adhere to all laws and regulations that provide equal opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or handicap. Employees shall endeavor to avoid any actions creating the appearance that they are violating the law or the ethical standards set forth in the Standards of Ethical Conduct. Whether particular circumstances create an appearance that the law or these standards have been violated shall be determined from the perspective of a reasonable person with knowledge of the relevant facts. These principles form the basis for the standards of ethical conduct regulation (5 C.F.R. part 2635) that is discussed and illustrated by examples on the following pages. A violation of these rules could result in disciplinary action or, for certain offenses, prosecution under related criminal statutes on conflicts of interest.
