Whacky stuff happening to me KB ends 0966 has been trying to install but won't.. I am fairly IT savvy.. I has assumed auto update was working.. noticed about two weeks ago it wasn't.. It jacks the heck out of my cpu.. Not sure when this happened.. I had assumed my hotspot data connections was slow and discovered this mess.. It appears I may have lost adminitrative rights.. And I am the only person that has been on the machine.. This hurts bad.. Hope it doesn;t leave a mark. joined ms community.. made about 3 comments.. they were censored in moments and now I can't post.. I said something about "I am terrified Xi Jinping has everything" I have nada.. but some folks do A third of IT Cybersecurity force is shutdown.. They say a backlog of things could build up that we may never be able to crawl out of. Check for available updates on Windows 10 and make sure you are good
Sorry for your issues. No prob with 0966 which installed 1/9/19. Did have some boot issues past two days... computer rebooted for no reason. Bitdefender had trouble updating. It finally evened out. Then Microsoft programs stopped working. So I scanned with Bitdefender, then with Malwarebytes, and lastly with Superantispyware. All clean. Ran sfc /scannow, results okay. Used powershell(admin) to reinstall all Micrsosoft apps with a command I got off the internet. Now they work. Went to Settings/Update and checked. Said updates available. Downloaded and installed KB...0976. All seems okay now. Fingers crossed.
i did get the updates done though! It was sweet whie it lasted.. Damn Russian Trolls suck.. Give them Yellow Vests
Just swapped out the 5400 rpm hard drive in my 11 year old laptop with an SSD. Installed Windows 7 Pro, and man does it boot and run fast now in comparison. I also doubled the Ram and replaced the wireless card as well, which tripled my wireless download speeds from 20Mbps to 60Mbps. Total cost for the OS, the SSD, Ram and Wireless card was $70.00. And it was fun. I'm also awaiting a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo processor from China to replace the original Celeron processor. Cost for that is $3.76 with free shipping. So when I'm done, total cost will be under $75.00 for the upgrade. I may try to upgrade Windows 7 to 10 in the near future. I may be able to do it for free.
Replaced Celeron 2.1 Ghz proc with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz proc and man is it faster. Runs cooler too. What I didn't know is that a faster proc would increase my download/upload speeds. They went from 60/6 Mbps to 180/12 Mbps. PS. Sorry to get off topic.
SSD totally worth it! You can do it for free. Youtube has 'how to' videos. I tried several before one worked, but it eventually did
