don't see a lot of difference other than the start menu is loaded down with apps, if you use express install you give MS the right to sit beside you as you surf porn, and it turned some sound profile on that randomly makes noises even when I am doing nothing

Well, unless Microsoft has changed their business plan yet again supposedly Windows 10 is the last of their Window's operating systems. From here on out after purchasing this final operating system one only upgrades Windows 10, and does that without additional expense. Yeah right! I just don't have it in me to believe Microsoft about anything anymore. I honestly think that I would believe a sleazy politician first!

I find it much more intuitive than 8. The weird home screens (there were two of them in Windows 8.) and the detour to the right click pop up menu (why Steve, why put the menu at the bottom of the page when it was right there by the pointer?).

When I upgraded to 10 I had an issue with my Asus Smart Gesture (not so smart any more, more 'Sarah Palin' than 'Neil Degrasse Tyson') and had to use Microsoft Support. They responded in Chat in about 90 seconds and the guy worked on it for about an hour remotely. Turns out the fix from Asus wouldn't launch properly so Support came back the next day and the new fix worked.

I upgrade. Glad to have my start menu back. You can basically disable most of the options to send microsoft information. I like it better then 8.1 that's for sure. Still though, Linux ftw

Right off the bat when you do the upgrade, part of it is your 'settings'. There is an option on one of the screens to 'customize settings'. Just disable all the ones that have hte 'send information to microsoft' in it.

Also, It's in the privacy settings too I think, not sure. Might have to google it.

Windows 10 Starts Charging For Missing Features

Windows 10 splits opinions and it has split mine. I think Microsoft MSFT -1.98% nailed the core OS, but the policies around it are controlling and overly invasive. In short: great software, shame about the rules. And here’s another perfect example…

Now Windows 10 has launched, Microsoft is starting to fill in the blanks regarding features removed from Windows 7 and Windows 8 and it doesn’t make for pleasant reading. Why? Because behind this free upgrade are the first signs of where Microsoft will start charging users in future and it begins at the very bottom:

    BTY:

If you pay for your bandwidth, Windows 10 plans to use your bandwidth to send Window 10's updates to other Window 10's users.

Also disable your microphone and put tape over the camera if your PC or lap top has those features and don't have sex in sight of your computer.

WTF? Turning the OS into a P2P network sounds like a hackers wet dream. They will eventually be able to disable the security suite. Mark my words.

Still don't have the notification icon even though I meet all qualifications(genuine windows7, registered, OEM version, plenty of hard drive, ram, all updates etc.) But that's okay because I'll wait till they iron out the initial heap of issues before I download and burn the ISO and do a clean install. Hope everyone else here has good success. Looking forward to playing with it.

Damn, I feel like the guy who is overlooked when choosing up teams. Glad you got an early go at it. Do you like it?

I didn't see anything particularly troubling about Windows 10 in either article.

I don't see much difference than 8.1 other than I have a search bar for windows or computer by my start button and the picture viewer makes it easier to crop photos than the old one. There were lots of apps attached to the start tab but you can remove them in a few seconds. My computer seems to take a little longer to boot but that is about it.

Hmm. Did you do an upgrade, keeping former software and settings? Or did you do a clean install, deleting all former data on the drive?

I did the upgrade. There was no other option given to me other than "No thanks". I know of no way to do a clean install without paying for it, but, either way, I had no desire to have to reinstall all my programs since they have limited licenses about how many times I can do that (and it would take forever) or have to download and then reupload all my files (which would take forever as I have a crap ton of music, pictures, and video on my computer).
