I left work about 6:20 a.m. several days ago in Southwest Florida here and I actually had ice on my windshield. So of course I poured water on it....lol. Which only served to temporarily melt some of the ice but make even more of it. Hey give me a break I was born and raised in Florida that's the first time I've had to deal with ice on my windshield
They don't seem to be established in my neck of the woods. But a short 30 miles or so closer to the Gulf Coast they are. I did see one specimen here about 9 years ago, but I think it was an isolated individual. I have heard there is an area in town where there are established and I actually meant to go look cuz I kind of want to catch a juvenile for a pet but I just haven't found the time to go look. Plus now you're supposed to have some sort of fish and wildlife permit because of course they're invasive, well that's too little too late that horse has left the barn.
Where I live we can have mild snowless winters with temps above freezing. Or we can have day after day of below freezing Temps, snow on the ground and people clueless on how to drive on it. The latter has been our winter this year and I HATE it.
No never seen an ice scraper for sale. One would need to improvise. I was going to use warm water but I didn't want to crack the windshield. So I ended up driving home with about a dinner plate sized hole to look through. Fortunately it was just back roads
