    3rd baby!!! Go Canada!!

Really great this year. Best part for me was the Womens gold medal hockey win. That was a white knuckler of a game. Wish the mens had that much drama near the end, makes the win that much sweeter then a blow out.

I have to say the opening ceremony was the best Winter games opener I have ever seen and pretty close to the best of any of the games. All without one mention of politics. Really great job!!!!!

Thank God everything went well and without any of the anticipated problems. To those who were in charge of security....good job.

Do you realise that you have posted the official results which does not bode well for the USA.

Their media would rather post the total medal count and have their populaces believe they came in a higher position than they actually did.

But, some good news. They are No:1 in the men's Tennis rankings for the over 80's and over 85's

    Polar bear Olympics ? meh

Medal count doesn't matter because Olympics are about participation , also you have to take country population into account: Norway has 4m people and Slovenia 2m. For Canada to claim that they did better than Slovenia they have to win 15 times more medals .

Spare a thought for the Australian media. Somehow they have to figure out a way that 2 Silver and a Bronze can be manipulated in such a way as to put Australia on the top of the medal tally ;)

Which is one of the reasons Hungry is the greatest Olympic nation in the known universe

I don't know why it went by me this time around, but I didn't watch even one moment of the Winter Olympics.

When the games started, I was in a very busy and challenging technical course out of State, and as they finished up, I've been here taking care of family, pets, and bar-band responsibilities.

Priorities, I guess. That and I no longer have cable or satellite television here at the house. I lost interest in the TV recent years.

I see. So 50 Bronze medals for the US would effectively show them as the winners.

Strange that it's only in the USA that such a farce is publicised.

    With whom?

    Oh! I see.

You really should be accusing the OP for manipulating the scoring system, since it's obvious the Russians cannot count gold as a more valued currency than silver or bronze.

Give it up. 340 million Americans against a Canadian population of 34 million.

It doesn't take a genius to show that the US again claims victory in the jaws of defeat.

Well that is pretty petty and it is all on how you look at it isn't it? The US came in 2nd in total medals won.
But I guess if you want to only put an importance on gold, you really have no idea what it means to win even a single medal, regardless of place.

That is one way to look at it. Or, you could say that those Scandinavian countries have a climate that makes snow and ice related activities a way of life. People grow up with those sports from a very early age. Same with Canada and Russia. Their latitude has shaped there winter lifestyle and recreations and made them more competative in winter sports.

Somehow you turned a thread about Olympic medals into a bash America tirade. Kudos.

    The usual American gripe.

In your context, the US has been involved in over 60 wars since the end of WWII but hasn't won any of them. They didn't even come second - but heh! there were 60 bronze medals available and you got them all.

    Congratulations!

There are many that will distort to bash America. It is the way of the World to love tyrants and hate those that resist same. The World is upside down and in a very bad way. People have forgotten the lessons of history.

How do you bring wars into this? And you are of course wrong about the wars. The World would be a much sadder and harder place without the US and its principles of freedom. We do what we can, but it is not easy to bring freedom to the World. On the one hand there are those that say it is not our concern, on the other there are those that say how could you stand by and do nothing while thousands were being butchered?
The US has to accept that people like you will always be haters and just do what they can, and what is right.
BTW, Canada benefits greatly from have the US as their Southern neigbor. We keep you safe, and we ask nothing in return but your support in the stage of World opinion. Just say thank you and be done with it.

Dream on. It's a total disaster and there you are, thinking the world loves you all.

One has to wonder who is the deluded one.

Where did you ever get the idea I think the World loves us? You just make this stuff up as you go don't you.
Tell you what, I have a hard enough time saying what I mean without you putting words in my mouth.
