In the 20th century, Europe was re-organized to be a cluster of nation states. National identities are enemies of regional identities within a nation, because those regional identities compete with the national identity.

There is an ever increasing global connectedness in business. Also there is the failing of taxation and trade tariffs. Then we also have the fast strengtening competition from private corporations and non-governmental organizations against national administrations.

So, will the regional identities of national minorities get a chance now, to get some degree of self detemination?
