In a statement to announce the name, the team even offered a cute backstory, claiming that Saints' pigs often feel "self-conscious" about gaining weight but that this year's mascot decided "a change was in order." "After a visit to his doctor, who was extremely worried about his cholesterol and heart, OzemPig vowed to change his lifestyle," the statement explained... The usual suspects are not amused: ...scolds on social media slammed the team for insensitivity. One user called the name OzemPig "offensive." Another asked, "How do you think fat people will feel showing up to your games?" Yet another threatened never to take their family to a game again on account of it: "Mean-spirited and gross. Why be a bully when you could just be kind? That's what I tell my kids I take to your games anyways. Change this or that won't happen anymore."... Happily, the team invited the pansies to have some cheese with that whine. Personally, I think it's a lousy name. You see all those stupid pharmaceutical ads peddling this or that, and they never tell you what it's for. I never knew Ozempic was a weight loss drug til this article. The team's fans came up with some much better names, IMO: Notorious P.I.G., Piggy Smalls, Daenerys Hoggarian, 867530Swine (only boomers will get that last one). Still, I'm glad the team has told the lard-ass lobby to pound sand. If you're woke about it, call your mommy and have a good cry like the precious little snowflake you are.
Idk it’s good wordplay but that doesn’t automatically translate to humor, and lacking that, all it’s really doing is associating fat people as pigs. Not my favorite mascot idea.
It would help if the right understood there term "woke," but then they couldn't use it as yet another cudgel for bashing liberals.
Well we already have cocaine beer so why not meth pig? Possibly Jenny crank or stemfast? How have we gotten to the point in the world where people forget the basic childhood lessons about sticks and stones and words and so on and so forth? You don't have a right not to be offended and no one has to walk on eggshells for your sensibilities
I would expect people who are "woke" (which means you're aware of racial inequality) to not think that being discriminated against is a joke.
They don't know what it means. But they hear their heroes on the radio and on TV, white supremacists like Tucker, Hannity, Alex Jones,... using it as if it were an insult. So they just fall in line like proper "goodthinkers" .
Woke is a political movement which seems to unite sexual and racial minorities (which they style the "oppressed") against Whites (which they style "oppresseors.)
