Last night Paul gave his absolute worst debate performance. At one point, he aimlessly rambled. I suspect he may even have lost some of his supporters because he showed just how out of touch he is.

2nd worse performance was Romney. He looked weak and as usual, no knock outs.

Big winner: Gingrich. I suspect he may have improved his numbers.

He's definitely the most skilled, most intelligent and most qualified candidate up there.

I wish Perry would drop out before Saturday and ask his supporters to support Gingrich.

Wish Santorum would do same but he cares more about his own ambitions to do that. But Perry might and he'd show his country comes first with him to ensure we get a conservative and not be stuck with flipflopin Romney. I have my doubts as to whether he can beat BO and even if he could, I'm not excited at what we would be gaining.

It was staged! These debates are nothing but a dog and pony show, and in this case, the dogs and ponies were provided and trained by Fox News.

Paul's poor rambling performance was not staged. You can't stage that.
He couldn't give an good answer as to why he thought the killing of Osama was not done correctly or otherwise support his statements.

As for the rest: I didn't see where anything was "staged". Gingrich's response clearly took Juan by surprise.

The STAGED debates are the ones sponsored by CNN and others. For example when George Stephanolopis kept asking that stupid question about contraception. He and Dianne Sawyer kept passing notes to each other. They were clearly trying to set something up. It was probably the only time Romney handled something stupid like that well. He made George look like an idiot.

Many of the news media are just trying catch them in a trap so they can have some news to jabber on about. They don't give them time or questions that are important. Fox has done better job than the rest.

I have provided a link where it was an all attack planed and orchestrated by the Fox moderators.
They knew if Romney wasn't stopped they would/could lose money and support going forward.
Fox is the tea party net work and for the ultra conservatives their only news net work.
If Fox had not asked more direct hard questions of Romney they would have been ripped by the same conservatives that back them overwhelmingly in ratings used for advertising data. $$$

Ron Williams is on the record as an anti Romney guy..his question about Romney's Mexican background was supposed to be edited out ..but he took it upon himself to ask it anyway.

What can you sell if there is no controversial topics ?
    16 FRIGGEN DEBATES on morality.
Conservative principles as it only applies to Romney.

What about as they apply to PAUL ? ( who's National defense ideas are so out of step with any republican platform )
    NEWT GINGRICH
    Santorum ..
    and Perry.?

Who cheated on their taxes and bounced bad checks to the IRS ? ( NEWT )
Who lied and cheated on taxes and tried to save $ 75,000 on their own children's homeschooling ? ( Santorum )
Who is more corrupt leading a state Government ? ( PERRY )

Why doesn't FOX even LOOK at this stuff...yet will go after Obama this time around ?

    Ratings and MONEY.
    You've been played.

Conversely, I wonder if Paul's numbers are going to drop after his foreign policy faceplants in the debate. I guess we'll find out this weekend...

SC is a big military and defense state, of course Paul's non-interventionist ideology won't be received well there.

The rest are carbon copy progressives.

I don't care how poorly he expressed them, anybody who agrees with his foreign policy ideals has no other home in the Republican party.

. . . and anyone who doesn't agree with him is not likely to change their mind before November.

It should become a three way race shortly; Romney, Paul and Gingrich.

Perhaps the one party rule in DC should stop making it so difficult for an actual second option to exist through campaign legislation.

Heaven forbid we don't want to be shipped off to another desert to die or worse be maimed so that cronies of the administration can become richer. Weird that the military supports Paul so much more than anyone else.

You've demonstrated a real " failure to Communicate " with that
comment. The crowd was on-board.Why should the Moderators be in control.
The real stars should always be the ones on stage.

I think that is patently false. That our Military supports Ron Paul.
Some in the Military, mostly vets.because of all the razz-a-ma-tazz
pro military talk from guys like Jessie Ventura who aggressively support
guys like Paul who are partial conspiracy nuts { Truthers }.
I think Paul and Alex Jones have been steering this false notion
that Ron Paul is heavily supported by our Military.
it makes no sense.Because Paul basically wants to eliminate our
Armed Forces and just have a Defense Dept. for Domestic use.
What about ALL those Career Military Brats. They won't have careers any
longer if Paul has his way.A lot of folk in the Armed Forces bank on careers
in the military. With good pensions and healthcare.

True, but right now I'm interested in seeing how his performance effects his numbers in South Carolina.

Looking at the latest numbers at RCP, Paul's performance didn't hurt him too badly (down 1 point), however, Romney and Gingrich are both up 4 points...

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/ep...ina_republican_presidential_primary-1590.html

The Augusta Chronicle's latest poll has Gingrich in the lead by 3%, so it's possible Romney may lose SC on top of his narrow loss to Santorum in Iowa...

Anecdotal I know, but I have a lot of friends in the Navy (as I myself am in the Navy) who support Paul. Pro-Ron Paul posts are all over my facebook. Not a single Romney, Gingrich, Obama, or other presidential candidate receive posts on my Facebook from my military brethren. Chew on that for a while.

Nevermind the donations Paul gets from active duty military members, at last count he has more than all other republican candidates combined.
