Health wise o think eliminating soda and drastically reducing fast food would be great for most Americans. Plus the stuff is expensive.

"Harvard study uncovers why fasting can lead to a longer and healthier life"

"The new research from Harvard shows how the changing shapes of mitochondrial networks can affect longevity and lifespan, but more importantly the study illustrates how fasting manipulates those mitochondrial networks to keep them in a "youthful" state."

Are not wars supposedly the ethical killing of humans?

And if you are going to produce meat that doesn't come from animals it won't be meat. Perhaps meat substitute?

The key words are "can" and "may" . The word does as in " does increase lifespan" does not occur. In other words so far actual benefits are conjecture.

the evidence is pointing to fasting is healthy, but your free not to fast if you want to wait for more evidence, I plan too continue fasting for the autophagy benefits - supplementing with electrolytes

considering a man fasted for over a year and was just fine, the odds of it being harmful are slim, as long as you have enough energy reserves stored in fat , which most healthy people do for a 24 to 72 hour fast and they supplement with electrolytes

A man fasted for a year? 365 days without eating. Somehow I doubt it.

And there is no sound evidence I have seen that fasting extends your life or actually improves your physical health.

Governments seem to think it's ethical but not all the soldiers do with PTSD sequela.
    Self-defense will always be there.
Death penalty is going out of favor.

Grown meat without animals is still meat.

Eating meat (other animals) is what apex predators have always done and always will. We humans have evolved to do so and I tried being vegetarian but became ill...once I began to eat meats again I very quickly improved. While I am sure some can do so....not me.

Just goes to show I was behind the times. I am no longer going to shrug this off. Its definitely worth trying if you are prediabetic or borderline, for certain autoimmune diagnosis and for heart health as long as your doctor is involved. Its a lot cheaper than racing to the pharmacy. Thanks!

it's true, we have been trained we need to eat 3 meals a day, the reality is we do not

    https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/survive-without-eating-382-days/

it's a way the body uses to clean up the junk

I would not recommend that long of a fast, but even in the bible people did it for 40 days, so 24-72 hours is nothing compared to that

the body store fat for when you don't have food, so your still eating, your just eating you own fat and no longer needed proteins and other junk like dormant viruses, ect.... your basically cleaning house

the evidence is showing that fasting is beneficial to health and lifespan

So we are getting better and better at ethically killing more and more human beings.

Physical health is not the purpose of biblical fasting.

yes, the more fat you have on your body, the longer you can fast (that was an extreme example), as that is the food your eating while fasting - that's part of fat's purpose, didn't have fridges and grocery stores in the old days :)

Well if war is ethically killing human beings it appears rather obvious the we are getting better at it.

Somehow Vietnam and Iraq and Afganistan would argue against that conclusion. Not to mention Rusdia in Syria and the fact that America is the world's largest merchant of killing tools.
