I've stood in lines that long to vote in the past. IIRC, it was the 2004 Presidential election, and possible the 2000 Presidential election. Since about 2010, I do early voting, primarily because the early voting precinct is close to my house than the normal precinct.
I stood in line quite a long while in 2008. It was the only time I ever really had to do that. I probably would have left but I ended up knowing some of the folks around me so we had a good gossip fest while waiting.
