Well there is no good price, but it seems to be torturing the definition of the word "sell" to put those actions into this category. They're not knowingly and freely trading their "soul" for something. The drug addict has a psychological health condition and the other person just wants money. I do wonder how many such people feel any kind of certainty there is a hell, and if so if they really feel they are trading hell for what they're getting. My guess is not very often. Hell is always reserved for ones enemies.
Do you have any concrete evidence that a soul was sold and delivered to a purchaser consistent with a contract obligation?
O ****** bloody ENOUGH willya? What kind of silly purely MEAN ass god do you people believe in anyway, that he puts us here in this vale of tears and then stands watching us like a truly vicious schoolmarm, ready to condemn us to eternal suffering at the first sign of our wanting to have any small amount of human pleasure? What is WRONG with you people, that you think God is this way? HOW do you live? ALL Jesus really suggested was that we might have a good deal more pleasure in our lives if we'd make a little effort to be nicer to each other, for that we allowed him to be crucified and then twisted his faith into about the most self-righteous and impossibly judgmental POS that exists in the world today, well, maybe excepting Islam
I agree. (of course I would lol) Some sell themselves freely and continue being deceptive scumbags. ...but I also think not believing in a soul means people are naturally "bad", or that the person will turn into the above.
I picked a Trillion Dollars...hell if someone wants to give me money for nothin' I'm going to take them for as much as I can.
Yes, I would sell my soul but not for money. I know what I would want but it;s a secret as you already guessed.
I am sure Lucifer (his Latin name given to him by St. Gerome) would surely be interested in this poll. He looks for weak souls (like Donald J. Trump) whom he can scarf up with riches.
I would sell that which I see no proof of existing for as much money as I could get! I know money exists, I have some and would like to have more... but a soul... what evidence is there to prove that a soul exists?
The concept of a soul is immortality that you already posses. The idea of selling it for immortality is transferring the control of it to someone else's will that you will then have to endure for eternity. But don't worry, you'll still have you immortality, you just won't have any control over it. To put it in perspective, imagine being permanently blind and paralyzed but yet still alive and aware. Imagine not having any ability to taste, or smell, of feel, or hear; but you're still alive. You would have no dreams when you rest, no hope, no fear, no anger or love, or lust, or passion; and you would be trapped in that state forever. That would become the new immortality you gained from selling your soul. And the buyer, well they'd get every thing you just gave up. So I'll buy your soul if you're selling it.
I believe in the kind of God that created everything from Heaven to Hell, from birth to death, from pleasure to pain, from angles to devils. God is not the representation of only all the good things, God is the creator or everything, that why it's called God. But you do have the free-will God gave you. So you do have the ability to sell the soul you don't believe in if you like. I'll take your soul and give you the immortality that you requested.
People worship the devil because they view him as good, and God as evil. Really it would be a rather ingenious plan for the devil, to represent himself as God and vice versa. Heck, it's got everyone fooled so far! I think there's a somewhat strong case to be made.
Forgetting the silliness and taking this as a viable proposition. First, the offer of monetary gain is not sufficient. I have to believe that money has no value to a devil. Why would i give my soul up so cheaply? If the devil really wants/needs my soul then i would make a counter offer. He would grant me 1 favor of my choice at a time of my choosing. Then and only then would he receive delivery of my soul.
Does the words, "eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die" have meaning? They certainly do to the godless and I would certainly be in their camp if I did not know the Love of the God who created all things. If life indeed ends with a dirtnap and all consciousness of that life goes to the grave, what would be the purpose of living this short life in a way that serves others? I see no benefit in that. It would be 'get what you can while the getting is good'. So no, I will not sell my soul to the pleasures of this world. There is not enough temptation anywhere to miss out on the pleasures of eternity. "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever."
Well, not necessarily. It could be the satan of Jewish lore, the accuser of men who was never chasing after souls or "rebelling" against God. Besides, how would you verify the satan's identity?)
Well, the lighting of his cigar with his thumb (and no lighter) seems to help Does Orthodox Judaism even HAVE an afterlife? and aren't all their dybbuks and golems really just metaphors for various people they run into?
Just about everything I know about golems comes from videogames The only thing that comes to mind for the afterlife is Sheol, a dark place; I suppose that pretty much is as close as they got to hell.
