Okay....you are offered a job. The requirements and job description are a bit over your head but the salary and perks are excellent. You will be scrutinized closely and may end up being fired if you do not follow the rules to the T, your new boss does not have your back and will not be bothered to help, in fact he will turn on a dime and humiliate you before tossing you under the bus wheels. There is a good possibility that you could end up spending more money that you made on lawyer fees because you accepted the job and your boss is a corrupt individual who is being investigated by the cops. Now....you are actually well qualified for the new position and are offered the position knowing the above scenario was the reality of the person you will replace. You are confident you would do a very good job and there is incentive to do so partially out of a desire to be part of the larger good and contribute to something worthwhile. Do you risk your future for this job?
It largely depends on what field it is in? Obviously I will be more attracted to some positions than other ones. But generally, I HATE people looking over me shoulder (which is why I have run my own company for most of my adult life). Pass.
If you are talking about appointment to a job by the President, I probably would if I could do it. How many times in life do such opportunities come along? Not many--and there are always more qualified people than positions available.
Why is it then, that most positions remain vacant? Why have so many that HAVE been filled quit or been fired?
No job is worth ruining your own professional reputation IMO. The BLOTUS stench will be hanging around the GOP for decades to come. Having it on your own personal resume would be career suicide.
Sure. Maybe. If I didn't need to move to get this job. Taking a job you completely know how to do is a lateral career step. You need to take one that requires you to put in some gray matter instead of just phoning it in. So when do I start?
Would I take a job in a fascist state, an oligarchy. Not no, but hell no. Want no part of it. I have principles. I would only vote for a person who wanted to destroy it, and get murdered for trying to. But I would keep voting for the next one, and perhaps people like yourself would wake up to see you are supporting this oligarchy by your silly arse tribalism.
Because so many are being held up Senate inaction. Older article but I see no reason to think the situation has changed. https://www.rollcall.com/news/polit...inees-to-senate-a-backlog-is-starting-to-grow
If it was taking a significant job in the federal govt, I would take it in a heartbeat, for $1 a year (for paperwork and legal reasons). First, fire all the people who were not 100% on board with true conservative principles (if I could not fire them then they get transferred to staple counting duty until they quit). Then use "regulatory interpretation" to redefine all unconstitutional regulations to make them meaningless and powerless, then inspect/audit every prog group possible. Turn about is such fair play.
Trump did announce a hiring freeze, months ago. Odd how you folks keep forgetting that, but really, you should whine about it some more. More to the point, the federal government is functioning well, clearly so many of these open positions are completely non-essential and should be eliminated...
Your description is of a whipping boy or scapegoat, probably both. Either way I don't want the job. I'll be fired "for cause" the first time the boss does something wrong in or affecting my area and don't want that on my job record.
Examples and evidence that functionality is being effected by lack of personnel. I don't care about liberal rhetoric and whining, I'd have to see proof...
You mean like the "progressives" run the govt? I'll run it with the same approach they use, but from the conservative side. Whats good for the goose...
Thank you for disqualifying yourself from being fit for service in the government of We the People. As an employee of We the People it is incumbent to serve ALL of the people, not just those who adhere to one set of extremist alt right beliefs.
Oh, bullshit too. Conservative or Liberal you have to follow the Federal employment practices and protocols. If any liberal was to actually do what you're saying they do they'd be out on their butt, the same as would any conservative. Some things go beyond politics and one of them is the Civil Service Code
You don't want to serve all the people. You don't want to serve Christians or conservatives, you've clearly stated that in other posts. Stop being a hypocrite. I'm just giving you back what you and the progs have been serving the rest of use.
Ironic given your hypocrisy! As a public servant your job is to provide EQUAL TREATMENT to EVERYONE irrespective of creed or political leaning. That you are completely UNAWARE that what you are advocating is a VIOLATION of the Constitutional Rights of Americans says volumes.
