Wuhan Lab Helped Chinese Army in Secret Project to Find Animal Viruses

Despite its repeated denials, revelations are coming out the Chinese government has been working on a secret military project for 9 years to find and research animal viruses, according to documents obtained by the U.K.'s Daily Mail on Sunday.

The Trump administration had long speculated the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been conducting military research amid the global coronavirus pandemic that is believed to have begun in November 2019 in Wuhan.

"The Chinese have made it clear they see biotechnology as a big part of the future of hybrid warfare," State Department weapons expert David Asher told the Mail. "The big question is whether their work in these fields is offensive or defensive."

The documents show research called "the discovery of animal-delivered pathogens carried by wild animals" detected the "dark matter" of biology in spreading disease, including 143 new diseases discovered in the first 3 years of the project, according to the report.

Scientists studying bat diseases at 's maximum-security laboratory in Wuhan were engaged in a massive project to investigate animal viruses alongside leading military officials – despite their denials of any such links.

Documents obtained by The Mail on Sunday reveal that a nationwide scheme, directed by a leading state body, was launched nine years ago to discover new viruses and detect the 'dark matter' of biology involved in spreading diseases.

One leading Chinese scientist, who published the first genetic sequence of the virus in January last year, found 143 new diseases in the first three years of the project alone.

The fact that such a virus-detection project is led by both civilian and military scientists appears to confirm incendiary claims from the United States alleging collaboration between the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and the country's 2.1 million-strong armed forces.

You'd have to be crazy to doubt China would aspire to engage in biological (and the subsequent economical) warfare.

On another site that no longer exists I’d seeded NewsMax articles and had them attacked by the usual attack the source rather than debate the content crowd and then go back and prove that they got the article from Reuters and then they’d say why didn’t you seed it from Reuters in the first place. The same for Fox News and AP. I simply told them that I was going to use the alternative media and that they needed to get used to it. Anyone here remember Newsvine?

I’m not homeless literally or on news talk sites. I was on AOL from 1998-2008 and it stopped, MSN 2007-9, then Newsvine when MSN stopped 2009-it’s closure, NewsTalkers 2015-present, here since 2018 or 2019 to present. I stay in places long term until they ceased to exist. I did cut way back on newsvine when I joined NewsTalkers, and I have lately scaled back on NewsTalkers in favor of here.
