…Officials in the state of Wyoming have declined to participate in Biden’s plan for a nationwide network of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. They believe that the plan to install a charging station every 50 miles is not worth their time and resources. Wyoming has stated that it considers the plan to be a waste.

Politico reported, “The state says building and maintaining a charging station every 50 miles would require vast resources with little payoff. Only about 500 people own electric cars in the state.”

Wyoming officials have expressed concerns that the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations would be a burden on their state treasury.

According to them, there are currently few EV owners, and the charging stations would not generate enough revenue to cover their construction costs until 2040, at the earliest. As federal subsidies for the stations only last five years, the state would be responsible for covering the costs for a prolonged period.

State officials told the Biden administration, “Wyoming has no desire to establish infrastructure that will likely fail.”

However, they have presented an alternative proposal…

…The 50-mile rule, which calls for a charging station every 50 miles, is also a problem in rural areas as it often places the stations in remote locations without any nearby stores, restaurants, or towns. This not only puts the charging station at risk of vandalism but also endangers drivers who have to stop in these isolated locations.

Furthermore, the lack of businesses around these stations makes it difficult to recoup the cost of their installation. Some states in the Pacific Northwest have already reported incidents of vandalism at charging stations…

I love Wyoming. They are right about electric cars and the needed infrastructure for them. It time that the federal government consider the needs of rural states and counties.

I hope that they follow through with their ban on the sale of electric cars in their state and that other rural states do likewise.

Well that sounds fairly stupid on the part of Wyoming. Maybe they don't realize folks come from all over the country to see what a beautiful place it is. Maybe they think that oil will last forever.

Whatever the reasoning, being Luddites seems really dumb. The world evolves. Technology evolves. Adapt to it or be left behind.

Totally! I mean, telling people what they can and cannot buy is totally the job of the state.

Lately ive seen tons of photos of Biden’s house where he kept his stolen classified docs, but not once have I seen a solar panel on it.

Anyway, a charging station every fifty miles in the middle of BFE would be incredibly expensive to implement. Unless HUGE solar panel arrays were built there, which would require the destruction of the habitat to build, the cost of running power lines that far would be insane. In fact, installing buried underground power cables almost equates to building a pipeline which this dumb F cancelled on day one. And then every fifty miles they’d have to install bathrooms and trash receptacles which people would have to drive to as to maintain them. On top of that, let’s imagine your in the middle of nowhere charging your car for four hours and there’s no cell service - you are a prime target to get robbed.

Tell that to California which is also doing it but regarding gas engine automobiles. Neither should do it.

The kind Biden drives? I can’t wait to see if he’s the first person to convert a Vette to an EV.

Actually oil and natural gas likely will last virtually forever. There are a lot of problems with electric cars and their infrastructure there. A full reading of the article says that they did offer to put them in those places like near their two national parks. The interstate freeway from California to the north east US runs through Wyoming and I-80 is a pretty desolate and thinly populated stretch of road.

Wouldn't be more akin to California banning gas stations, which they are not doing?

Question to libs: what subject, what issue, what anything, is Biden familiar with or experienced in? What is his expertise in anything?

The big guy and all the little guys glomming onto him made millions in fossil fuels…..in foreign countries like Ukraine and China.

Wyoming isn’t banning electric car charging stations. They are refusing to use their tax payer dollars to build, maintain, pay for them. How many gas stations does California build and pay to maintain?
Wyoming is considering a ban on the sale of Electric cars in the state as a counter to California banning gas powered new ones in the future.

I remember the energy issues of the 1970’s and according to those who thought they knew everything back then, we should have already run out of fossil fuels by now instead of having a 100-400 year supply depending on the type.

How beautiful is it gonna be with stations every 50 miles and hundreds of miles of wiring to support them?
