When you a 3.1% UE in our state, the quality of service in the lower service wage jobs will not be good. Simply monitor and correct service errors. It's a part of life.
When it comes to service on an electrical appliance....... it is true that fifty years ago you would be more likely to get a broken appliance fixed..... but these days....... there are advantages to simply discarding the broken appliance and buying a new one that may well be an improvement over the old one. When it comes to restaurants....... up here in Canada it seems that we can get a pretty good meal at a very reasonable price....... but...... younger servers do tend to be distracted by their phones....... and do not have the level of politeness that waitresses and cooks seemed to have fifty years ago.......
I assume by quality of service you are referring to food and bar service. The quality of service often depends on the customer. I tip well and am friendly to my servers. I nearly always get good service. If you are bitchy and cheap you will find the opposite. I have noted that the general intelligence of servers seems to have dropped. It used to be that most servers were college students earning extra money. Now you see a lot more "career" waiters. I have also noted that few of these people have any math skills now either. You always have to count your change.
