I honestly don't know what I am anymore. I don't like the black and white views of the left or the right. I dislike aligning myself 100% as either or and completely ignoring a third option. I have allowed my views to fluctuate over the past few years and try to keep an open mind for all viewpoints. I have also stepped away from having very rigid narrow beliefs. I like to think that it's ok to not have an opinion on some subjects, especially if you know very little about it. In short, I am tired of picking sides. So I don't know what I am.
I was tempted by that option but.... over these last twenty or so years I have noticed that whatever our beliefs regarding religion or spirituality are......... those beliefs are significantly similar to our ideas on economics and politics. The people who believe in a black or white, heaven vs hell Theology.... tend to be happy with a world where..... "if a man shall not work neither shall he eat" is applied, to at least some degree...... by the various levels of government. Dr. Moses Coady was a Catholic priest...... believed in the idea of Purgatory which indicates some hope for the unsaved dead...... and he began an amazing movement in our area that raised up the very poor labourers to the level of middle class..... and even upper middle class.... If you are curious just Google The Antigonish Movement. I am a Christian Universalist..... I have hope even for The Devil..... that even Satan will eventually return to G-d..... I feel that each and every human life has something like infinite value to G-d, our Creator..... so....... I don't easily fit into either a Conservative or Liberal box...... Universalism.... has an application in all branches of our economy, politics, culture and even health care.......
